Patricio Freire vs Pedro Carvalho meet in a fight that is both a matchup for the belt and a fight in the Bellator Featherweight World Grand Prix. Bellator allowed Freire to pick his choice in the first round, and he went with Carvalho. Freire has belts in two divisions and has taken apart some of Bellator’s top fighters. Carvalho comes in on a four-fight winning streak in Bellator, including a win in September over Sam Sicilia, a UFC veteran.

Freire has 30 wins in 34 career professional fights. His victims have include Henry corrales, Emmanuel Sanchez and Michael Chandler. He beat Daniel Straus three times in four meetings, and he has beaten Wilson Reis twice. His rare struggles have come against fighters who are primarily wrestlers, such as Benson Henderson, Joe Warren and Pat Curran. Carvalho is not a wrestler; he is a kickboxer who trains in the same gym as Conor McGregor. He hopes that he will be able to use his kickboxing to get the win. Carvalho only has two knockouts in his career – but he has six submissions, so if Freire tries to turn this into a ground fight, Carvalho could surprise him. Freire has 11 knockouts and ten submission wins, though, so he can thrive no matter where the fight goes.

Final Prediction: Freire wins via decision

Daniel Weichel vs Emmanuel Sanchez is a rematch of a fight that took place at Bellator 159. Weichel won that via split decision back in 2016. Weichel has a 3-2 record since then, with three of those fights ending up as split decision. Sanchez has gone 6-1 since that fight, with his only setback coming against Freire in a championship bout.

Weichel does not do enough to separate himself form the competition, which is why he has suffered split decision losses against Goiti Yamauchi and Freire. He has a wealth of skills, but he has a difficult time bringing them to bear. We have a pair of grapplers in this match, which means that there should be plenty of action. Sanchez has improved, while Weichel has remained static.

Final Prediction: Sanchez wins via decision

Paul Daley vs Sabah Homasi gives us a big bomber in Daley, who either finishes with a knockout or ends up getting taken apart. Homasi has lost three consecutive fights, all either by KO or TKO, against UFC competition. Can he fare better against Bellator competition, or will Daley make it four in a row?

Final Prediction: Daley wins via knockout

Anatoly Tokov vs Fabio Aguiar features a dominant fighter in Tokov, who has only three losses in 32 pro fights. He has won five fights in Bellator, with his top win coming against one-time champion Alexander Shlemenko. Aguiar has only one career loss, but none or his pro fights have been in elite circles, and he makes his debut here.

Final Prediction: Tokov vis via decision
