2019 CFL Week 14 Odds, Preview & Picks

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats continue to run away with the Canadian Football League’s East Division, riding a four-game winning streak into Week 14 and sitting at 9-2. Montreal is 2 ½ games back of the Tiger-Cats at 6-4, but they have a three-game winning streak of their own. Ottawa now has lost four games in a row and is just one game ahead of Toronto, who is still in the East cellar at 2-9 — but Toronto did beat Ottawa to end their skid last week. In the West, Calgary and Saskatchewan are tied at 7-4, two games behind Winnipeg. Edmonton has dropped three in a row and is now 6-6, while British Columbia continues to occupy the West basement at 1-10, losers of seven straight. We have your sports betting preview for the CFL Week 14 matchups north of the border.

Friday, September 13

Ottawa at British Columbia

If you could pick a place to end a four-game losing streak, then you might well pick a trip to British Columbia to take on the woeful Lions. However, Ottawa comes in as the underdog, as they have dropped three of four on the road. Quarterback Dominique Davis continues to implode as far as ball security goes, with a 1:5 TD:INT ratio in his last three games. The defense has also been a problem, as the Redblacks now are giving up 30.2 points per game. BC has not won a home game this season. Their offense has struggled, as Mike Reilly has ten touchdown passes on the season — but also 11 interceptions. The Lions only average 88.5 yards on the ground per game, and their defense is slightly generous than that of the Redblacks, as they allow 31.1 points per game. This game could turn into a track meet, but Ottawa has the talent edge here. But can they take advantage of it? Final Score Prediction: British Columbia 37, Ottawa 34

Saturday, September 14

Hamilton at Calgary

The Tiger-Cats have won three of their last five away from home, and Dane Evans will start at quarterback for them this week. He has struggled with ball security, posting a 7:8 TD:INT ratio on the season. On defense, Hamilton continues to bring their weekly points permitted average down, as they now allow just 19.7 points per game, thanks to a team-leading 52 tackles from Justin Tuggle. Calgary has played well as of late too, winning seven of ten and four of five at home. Bo Levi Mitchell has thrown for 1,044 yards and six scores — but also five interceptions. The team’s defense is also solid, allowing just 22.4 points per game. Hamilton is the team to beat right now, but can they pick up a win on Calgary’s home field? Final Score Prediction: Hamilton 30, Calgary 27

Montreal at Saskatchewan

Montreal heads west on a three-game winning streak, although they are just 2-2 in their last four road contests. Vernon Adams has thrown five touchdown passes in the last three games for the Alouettes — but he also has four picks over that stretch. The Alouettes have one of the more productive running games in the CFL, averaging 133.3 yards per game, behind 689 yards and four scores from William Stanback. The Montreal defense has improved, now allowing 25 points per game. Saskatchewan has won six of their last seven and their last four at home. Cody Fajardo has a 9:7 TD:INT ratio for the Roughriders so far this season, and Shaquelle Evans and Kyran Moore have combined to catch six of those touchdown passes. The Roughriders average 110.7 yards per game on the ground, and their defense is well above average in the CFL, permitting just 23 points per game, behind 13 sacks from Charleston Hughes. Final Score Prediction: Saskatchewan 27, Montreal 17
