Colts vs Saints 2019 NFL Week 15 Spread, Game Info & Expert Pick

Written by on December 10, 2019

The Indianapolis Colts started the 2019 campaign with a 5-2 record, but since then they have lost five out of six, with setbacks to Pittsburgh, Miami, Houston, Tennessee and Tampa Bay, and their only win coming against Jacksonville. The quarterback position remains a major area of concern for the Colts, as Jacoby Brissett has not been able to provide the sort of ball security that the Colts need if they plan to contend. This week they head to New Orleans to take on the 10-3 Saints who will have some frustration to take out after falling to San Francisco by two points this past weekend. That put the Saints behind San Francisco as the top seed in the NFC. Can the Saints get back to their winning ways? Or will Indianapolis continue their frustration? Read our sports betting thoughts about this week’s Monday Night Football showdown.

Why should you bet on the Colts?

Indianapolis lost their third in a row on Sunday, falling in Tampa Bay, 38-35. The Colts did get a better day out of Jacoby Brissett, as he went 19 for 36 for 251 yards and a pair of scores — and without any turnovers. The Colts did not get much out of the passing game, as Marlon Mack and Brissett combined for 64 yards on 17 attempts.

The Indianapolis defense got three interceptions and a sack on Jameis Winston, but other than that they could not stop him, as he went 33 for 45 for 456 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran the ball for another score. It is not often that you see a quarterback throw for three interceptions and still deliver the win, but Winston is having an amazing second half of the 2019 campaign. The Colts will face another quarterback who is playing terrific ball right now when they visit the Saints, and if you like Indianapolis here, you see them staying right with the Saints until the end.

Why should you put your money on the Saints?

The Saints’ loss to San Francisco was a genuine thriller, with the 49ers getting a last-second field goal from Robbie Gould to win the game, capping off a drive that included a catch-and-run for the ages from tight end George Kittle. On the day,  Saints quarterback Drew Brees was magnificent, going 29 for 40 for 349 yards and five scores without a pick. Tailbacks Latavius Murray and Alvin Kamara combined for 94 yards on 20 carries. Michael Thomas caught 11 balls for 134 yards and a score.

However, the Saints’ defense could not get stops against San Francisco. New Orleans permitted five passing touchdowns and 384 yards through the air, along with 162 yards on the ground. They also gave up a trick play touchdown as wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders threw a touchdown pass. The Saints did get one interception, but when the team needed a stop most of all, they could not get it. If you like New Orleans, you see their defense redeeming themselves in this game.

Final Score Prediction

I believe that Jacoby Brissett has what it takes to lead a team as a franchise quarterback. However, his consistency from game to game is still developing. New Orleans has an offense that is firing on all cylinders right now, and their defense will be looking to make a statement after giving up 48 points to San Francisco last year. So I see the Saints’ pass rush amping up its game this week and forcing Brissett into some bad decisions. My final score prediction is New Orleans 34, Indianapolis 16.
