Why should you put your money on Getafe?

Getafe beat Real Sociedad on Monday, 2-1, to move past them into sixth place in the La Liga table. Jaime Mata opened the scoring for Getafe in the 20th minute from the penalty spot, and the match went into halftime with the hosts up 1-0. Adnan Januzaj brought the match level for Real Sociedad in the 56th minute, but then Mata finished his brace in the 83rd minute to give Getafe all three points.

Possession was virtually even between the two teams, and each team launched five shots. Getafe had two on frame, while Real Sociedad had just one. The game was extremely physical, with the teams combining 33 fouls (22 called on Getafe) and nine yellow cards (with six shown to Getafe). Getafe was able to emerge from this grindfest with a win, pushing them closer to Champions League qualification. If you like Getafe against Real, you see them using their physicality to frustrate Real and get an early goal before holding on for dear life.

Why should you bet on Real Madrid?

Real Madrid traveled to Barcelona to take on Espanyol on Sunday and prevailed in a 1-0, using conservative tactics to get that slim lead and then hold on down the stretch. Espanyol is dead last in the La Liga table, almost certainly set for relegation, so all Real Madrid had to do was play smart and avoid problems on the back line, and then wait for Espanyol to break. Casemiro scored the game’s only goal for the visitors, with the tally coming in injury time at the end of the first half.

Real Madrid possessed for 69 percent of the game but spent a great deal of that time just keeping it away from Espanyol. They launched six shots, against five for Espanyol, and had just two on target (to three for Espanyol). The teams combined for 32 fouls but just drew one yellow card apiece. Real did apply a good deal of pressure, forcing five corners. Real Madrid has been on point since La Liga play resumed, but now they have to prepare for a top team after a swim through the La Liga relegation zone.

Getafe vs Real Madrid Final Score Prediction

Getafe is charging hard for Champions League qualification, but Real Madrid is charging hard for a La Liga championship, with their best chance to unseat Barcelona for the first time since 2016-17. So while I like the progress Getafe has made, I don’t see Real losing sight of the real prize. I see the game starting conservatively on both ends as the teams sniff each other out, but then I see Real Madrid putting things away. I predict a final score of Real 2, Getafe 1.
