This week NASCAR stops at Bristol, Tennessee, for the 2019 Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race. The short track leads to a great deal of contact — and a great deal of drama. Kyle Busch continues to dominate the point standings, with Joey Logano posting a recent challenge. Kevin Harvick and Martin Truex Jr have been the other dominant drivers as of late. When it comes to short-track racing, the winners can usually blend aggression with patience, choosing just the right moment to make their move. Kyle Busch

Busch may lead the point standings, but he has not won a race since the beginning of June. Even so, he is the favorite because he owns this track, having won three of the last four races at Bristol and having won this event three times. If you add his victories from the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series and the NASCAR Xfinity Series, he has won 14 times here. You won’t get much value, but you have to add him anyway.

Kurt Busch

The other Busch pulled off that big win in Kentucky but has fallen off the table since then, only cracking the top ten once in four races since then. However, this Busch brother is the defending champion of the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race, and he came in second at the April race at Bristol. He has five top-five finishes here in his last ten races on this track, so you have to wager on both Busches this week.

Kyle Larson

Larson almost paid off big last week, coming in third, and he has four top-five finishes in his last seven races. At Bristol, Larson came in second in both races in 2018 and has an average finish of 7.6 over his last five starts here. If you add his nine appearances here in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, you add seven top-five finishes as well, including the victory at the Food City 300 here in 2018. So he’s someone to consider as well.

Erik Jones

Jones is an intriguing dark horse as he has five top-ten finishes in his last seven races. He has two wins at Bristol from his time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and his average finish in two Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Races is 3.5. With that value, Jones is definitely someone for you to keep in mind.

Joey Logano

Logano has finished outside the top ten three weeks in a row, but he has won the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race twice and has an average finish of 5.3 in his last three starts at Bristol, with two wins here in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. You definitely don’t want to leave him off your card this week, as a bounceback seems likely.
