NASCAR 2019 Gander RV 400 Odds & Preview

After a wild finish at the Talladega Superspeedway, NASCAR goes back to a shorter track at the Monster Mile at Dover, Delaware. Kyle Busch will look to put up another top-10 finish to keep his record streak going. Chase Elliott picked up the win last week, which means that each of the last five races has had a different winner (Busch, Elliott, Martin Truex Jr, Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski). Elliott won this event last year, but there have been six different winners over the last six races at the Monster Mile. No one has repeated at the track since Jimmie Johnson won the fall race in 2013 and then won again in the spring of 2014. We have your NASCAR odds for the race, which you can watch on FS1 starting at 2:00pm Eastern time, as well as our suggestions for your wagering cards.

Chase Elliott

He won last week and won the last race at the Monster Mile. In six races at this track in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, he has an average finish of 4.3, and he also has four top-10 finishes here when racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Given his recent form and his history on this track, despite the fact that he does not offer a whole lot of value, you have to consider wagering on him.

Jimmie Johnson

Johnson keeps popping up as a possible winner even though he has not won in a couple of years. He has won the Gander RV 400 six times, more than any other driver in history, and he has won four times here in his last seven appearance. In his last 11 appearances at the Dover International Speedway, he has eight top-10 finishes. Overall, Johnson has 11 career wins in this track while driving in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, so that moneyline value could (finally?) pay off for Johnson.

Daniel Suarez

We don’t bring him up much, as he is a third-year racer in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series and is still looking for his first victory. However, at Dover International Speedway, he has raced four times with an average finish of 6.75, and he came in third at this race in 2018. He won the NASCAR Xfinity Series Bar Harbor 200 on this track in 2016, and in two appearances here with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, he has finished as the runner-up both times. So he’s sliding down the odds list due to his overall history, but given how he has raced here, he’s worth considering at that value.

Kyle Busch

Busch is the favorite for a reason, as he has a dozen consecutive top-10 finishes and has not gone through more than two races without a win since Phoenix — so it sounds like he is due. He has won the Gander RV 400 twice and has three finishes of either first or second in his four appearances in the fall race at the Monster Mile. Also, he won at this track five times in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and four more times in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series. He enjoys this track and is racing well right now — so don’t leave him off your card.

Kevin Harvick

He only has two finishes outside the top-10 since Atlanta — but one of those came last week. Harvick won this race in 2018 and has three finishes of first or second in his last seven Gander RV 400 starts. He has five top-10 finishes in his last eight races at the Monster Mile — with wins in two of his last seven starts here. In his last six races coming after a finish outside the top 20 (like he did last week), he has five top-five finishes. It’s hard to leave him off the card as a result.
