Top Boxing Betting Picks of the Week – April 25th Edition

Jessie Magdaleno vs Isaac Dogboe (April 28, 2018, 7:00pm ET, ESPN)

The Liacouras Center in Philadelphia will host this WBO junior featherweight title defense between Magdaleno (25-0, 18 KO) and Dogboe (18-0, 12 KO). Magdaleno is a lefty and hails from Las Vegas. He took the world title when he took down Nonito Donaire, who held four belts at the time, back on November 5, 2016. He defended his title successfully against Adeilson Dos Santos, bringing matters to a swift end with a second-round knockout. He had a scheduled title defense on November 11 but had to withdraw due to injury. He has recovered and is now ready to fight. He takes on a former sparring partner from his Vegas days — and (as you might expect) both boxers think that they can easily take down the other.  Dogboe fought in the 2012 Olympics as an athlete from Ghana, and he won the interim WBO junior featherweight title back in January 6, taking down Cesar Juarez in the fifth round with a TKO, a fight that took place in his hometown of Accra. It was Dogboe’s monster left hook that brought the fight to a close — Dogboe’s fourth knockout win in his last five bouts. We have two big fighters here, both of whom can land big blows, but I have to go with the one who has the (slightly) more impressive track record to take his title back. Boxing Betting Prediction: Magdaleno by knockout

Victoria Bustos vs Katie Taylor (April 28, 2018, HBO)

Victoria Bustos (18-4) has defended her IBF belt six times since winning ig back in 2013. One interesting note about her career is that all of her decisions have gone to the cards — she has never had a bout end via stoppage or knockout. She takes on Taylor, who is making her second defense of her WBA title. She took the title back in October when she beat Anahi Sanchez in October, and then beat Jessica McCaskill on the cards in her first title defense in December. Boxing Betting Prediction: Bustos by decision

Kenra Enriquez vs Yokasta Valle (WBC women’s interim junior flyweight title)

This bout will feature Kenra Enriquez in her second defense of the WBC women’s interim junior flyweight title. This time she faces Costa Rican Yokasta Valle in Tecate, Baja California. Enriquez (20-1, 9 KO) is 24 years old, while Valle (18-1, 6 KO) is 25. Valle comes in off a loss to Naoko Fujioka, in Tokyo, in a fight that went to the cards. Valle still considers the decision to have been wrong, thinking that she outpointed her counterpart. Both fighters like to bring big blows, as shown by their high (for their division) knockout numbers. Check out this bout on beIN Sports Espanol. Boxing Betting Prediction: Enriquez by decision

Kerman Lejarraga vs Bradley Skeete (vacant European welterweight title)

Kerman Lejarraga takes on Bradley Skeete in his hometown of Bilbao, Spain, for the European welterweight title. Skeete (27-1, 12 KO) already has the welterweight title in Great Britain and the Commonwealth and wants to add the EBU belt. Skeete almost had a shot at the world welterweight title with a bout against Jeff Horn, but Horn took the challenge from Gary Corcoran instead. This is a make-or-break bout for Skeete, who at the age of 30 either needs to move up the ranks or fade into the background. Lejarraga (24-0, 19 KO) took the Spanish welterweight belt in his last bout, but his most well-known fight came in 2016, when he stopped Denton Vassell in the fourth round. This will be Skeete’s first international trip to take part in a bout, but he will have all he wants from the bruising style of Lejarraga. Boxing Betting Prediction: Skeete by decision
