2018 Dell Technologies Championship Odds & Betting Preview

Friday marks the opening round of the 2018 Dell Technologies Championship Preview, which is the second leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs, a series of four tournaments. This weekend the action takes place at TPC Boston. The field is limited to the top 100 in the FedEx Cup standings, and after the tournament ends on Monday, only the top 70 will advance to the BMW Championship next weekend. There is additional drama for American players, as U.S. Ryder Cup captain Jim Furyk will announce three of the four picks that he gets to make for the international tournament on Tuesday, after the tournament ends. Tiger Woods, Bryson DeChambeau and Phil Mickelson are viewed as the likely choices, but players such as Zach Johnson, Kevin Kisner, Matt Kuchar and Tony Finau would like to use this tournament to boost their own chances. The dual tension — the chance to advance to the third round of the FedEx Cup and the eye of Furyk, as he figures out the best roster to help the United States team defeat their British counterparts in the Ryder Cup — will make this a memorable tournament for many, and you can make some money with the right pick. We have several golf betting suggestions for you as you consider which golfers to wager on for the championship.

Henrik Stenson put together a terrific weekend at the Wyndham Championship, finishing 13 shots under par, and he leads the PGA Tour in greens in regulation percentage and driving accuracy percentage. He has also been a steady player, making every cut but one since the Houston Open, and he seems due for a win. He won it all here in 2013 and came in second in 2015. The moneyline value on him is significant as well. Hideki Matsuyama is another big-value player this week, and he cracked the top 20 at the Northern Trust and the Wyndham Championship. He has come in no worse than four strokes under par in three consecutive events and ranks second on the PGA Tour in fewest holes per eagle. At the TPC Boston, he has played well, finishing in the top 25 in each of his last three appearances here. Adam Scott has finished in the top five two weeks in a row and has made it to -10 or better in four of his last nine tournaments. On the PGA Tour, he sits at seventh in greens in regulation percentage. Since 2011, he has cracked the top 10 three times at TPC Boston, most recently two years ago. He hasn’t won since early 2017, but the value that you can get here, along with his history on this course, makes him a smart pick. Dustin Johnson still represents some value despite sitting as the favorite. He had a real chance to win at the Northern Trust, but he settled for 11th place. Even so, that gives him nine top-20 finishes in his last 11 tournaments. His consistency has been his strongest attribute this year, and he has three top-20 finishes in the last five Dell Technologies Championships. Justin Rose missed the cut last week, his first time not to make the weekend since the PGA Championship a year ago, meaning that he has not missed a cut since this time in 2017. Rose has eight top-10 finishes in his last 15 made cuts, and he ranks fourth on the PGA Tour in holes per birdie and third in scoring average. In 2017, he came in 10th at the Dell Technologies Championship. The moneyline value on him makes him a must-pick.
