Now that the dust has settled from the exciting finish at the PGA Championship, where Brooks Koepka held off Tiger Woods down the stretch for a two-stroke victory, giving him his third win at a major in the last seven overall, the PGA moves to Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, for the 2018 Wyndham Championship. This is the last event in the PGA schedule before the FedExCup Playoffs, and a lot of the top names in golf are taking the week off after last week’s tournament.

Why is Webb Simpson the favorite? Well, he has made it into the top 25 in three straight tournaments, including the PGA Championship a week ago. In fact, the last nine times he has made the cut, he has finished in the top 25 eight times. On the PGA Tour, he ranks sixth in scoring average and sand save percentage. At the 2017 Wyndham Championship, he came in third. He won the whole thing in 2011, and he has been in the top 15 in four of his last five starts here. Shane Lowry has been playing consistent golf lately — last week he finished 12th at the PGA Championship and has three consecutive top-15 finishes. He is developing more long-term consistency, having made nine cuts in his last 11 tournaments. At the 2017 Wyndham Championship, he came in seventh. Rory Sabbatini has taken an extended break, dating back to the RBC Canadian Open, where he finished at -14. He has made the top 25 in seven tournaments this year and regularly makes cuts. Sabbatini has appeared twice at the Wyndham Championship, coming in eighth in 2013 and fourth a year ago. He will likely have some rust on his game thanks to the long layoff, but that is one factor in the significant value you get from the odds playing him.Johnson Wagner
