The Milwaukee Bucks and the Toronto Raptors have “cooled off” a bit over the last two weeks, combining to win 13 of their last 20, but they are still well ahead of third-place Philadelphia in the NBA’s Eastern Conference, with the Bucks eight games ahead of the Sixers and the Raptors just 2 ½ games behind Milwaukee. Brooklyn is making a late playoff push, winners of four in a row, and Detroit is making a strong case as well, winners of eight of ten. Out West, Golden State lost to Phoenix for just the first time in their last 19 meetings, and have dropped six of ten. They are still 1 ½ games ahead of Denver atop the standings, but Houston is charging hard, winners of nine in a row. The Clippers and Spurs are both riding five-game winning streaks to climb to the sixth and seventh spots in the West. The coldest teams in the West right now are the Lakers and Mavericks, both riding five-game losing streaks. Who will your winners be this week? Check out our NBA betting picks from the Association.

Top NBA Betting Picks of the Week – March 13th Edition

Wednesday, March 13

Brooklyn at Oklahoma City (7:00pm ET, ESPN)

The Nets look ready to end a four-year playoff drought, as Brooklyn dealt Detroit a 103-75 whipping on Monday night, behind 19 points from Spencer Dinwiddie. Detroit only shot 27.8 percent from the field, the lowest percentage by any NBA team since the Grizzlies only made 27.1 percent of their shots at Golden State in November 2015. Allen Crabbe put up 14 points and 10 boards, Rodion Kurucs chipped in 13, and Joe Harris and Caris LeVert each added a dozen. Brooklyn opened the game on a 19-8 run and led by eight after one quarter and by 26 at the halftime intermission. Oklahoma City finished up a West Coast swing with a 98-89 win in Utah on Monday night. In a game marred by a remark by a Utah fan to Russell Westbrook, allegedly racial in nature, which lead to that fan’s lifetime ban from Jazz games and a $25,000 fine for Westbrook’s response, the Thunder got 23 points, 11 boards and eight assists from Westbrook, as well as 24 points from Dennis Schroder. Paul George adde 14 points and 11 boards, and Steven Adams and Jerami Grant each scored a dozen. The Jazz tried to rally in the fourth quarter but could not get closer than six points despite 25 points from Donovan Mitchell. Can the Nets keep their winning ways going? The Thunder are tough to beat at home and look like they have a chip on their collective shoulders. NBA Betting Prediction: Oklahoma City 111, Brooklyn 101

Golden State at Houston (9:30pm ET, ESPN)

The defending champs are looking more flawed than usual this week, losers of four of six and set to play in Houston on Wednesday night without Kevin Durant, who sprained his ankle in the loss to Phoenix on Sunday. Over their last four games, the Warriors have alternated big wins in Philadelphia and at home against Denver with home losses to Boston (in blowout fashion) and to Phoenix. In the loss to the Suns, Golden State allowed Phoenix to win their first road game against Western Conference opposition this season. Klay Thompson made two free throws with 1:04 remaining to trim the lead to three, but Stephen Curry clanked a three with 23 seconds left. Kevin Durant had 25 points in the loss, but that bruise to his ankle took the only hot shooter in the Warriors’ lineup out, and Devin Booker made Golden State pay down the stretch, going 13 for 23, as well as 9 for 9 from the free throw line, dealing out 11 assists along the way. Golden State now faces a red-hot Houston team on the road Wednesday. Those Rockets are now seeing what their team plays like at full strength, with all of their key contributors back on offense, so James Harden doesn’t have to score 40 points per night. He only needed 28 points on Monday as the Rockets rolled in 118-106 fashion over Charlotte. Eric Gordon put up 22 points, nailing five three-point shots for the third consecutive game and the fourth in his last five games. This is a team that has gone 31-11 since opening the season 11-14, and now they are poised to make up even more ground on the Warriors. NBA Betting Prediction: Houston 121, Golden State 116
