Top NBA Betting Picks of the Week – March 25th

Written by on March 25, 2019

In the NBA’s Eastern Conference, the Milwaukee Bucks pulled away from the Toronto Raptors, moving to a four-game lead atop the standings, and each team has eight games to play. Milwaukee, Philadelphia and Miami have all won seven of ten, and the Heat have the eighth slot in the standings right now — but the Orlando Magic are just a game behind the Heat and have won four straight. In the Western Conference, Golden State still leads the standings by a half-game over Denver after bouncing back from a 35-point home loss to Dallas on Saturday. The hottest team in the West right now is the Los Angeles Clippers, winners of five in a row and seven of ten, good enough to move into fifth place in the standings — but just a half-game ahead of Oklahoma City and Utah and a game ahead of San Antonio, who currently sits in eighth place. We have your NBA betting picks for the week ahead from the Association.

Phoenix at Utah (9:00pm ET)

The Phoenix Suns did not follow up on the momentum of their big 138-136 win in New Orleans, since losing at home to Chicago and Detroit and then losing again in Sacramento on Saturday. Devin Booker scored 32 points, and Deandre Ayton put up 19 points and 11 boards for the Suns, who went on a 19-0 run in the first period to take a lead that grew as large as 15 points but could not sustain it. The Suns are missing Kelly Oubre Jr. (thumb), Josh Jackson (ankle), Tyler Johnson (knee) and T.J. Warren (ankle), and heading to the high altitude of Salt Lake City won’t help this depleted roster. The Jazz saw a five-game winning streak end in Atlanta, of all places, but then they bounced back with a 114-83 shellacking of the Bulls in Chicago on Saturday, behind 21 points and 14 boards from Rudy Gobert. Utah led by 70-36 at the half and never looked back, as Gobert also controlled the paint with four blocks. Donovan Mitchell scored 16 points and grabbed eight boards, while Derrick Favors and Joe Ingles each chipped in 13. The Jazz look to continue their push for home court in the first round of the playoffs as the Suns come to town. NBA Betting Prediction: Utah 111, Phoenix 101

Houston at Milwaukee (8:00pm ET, TNT)

The Rockets followed up a one-point loss in Memphis with a home win over San Antonio on Friday and a 23-point win in New Orleans on Sunday. In that win over the Pelicans, James Harden scored “only” 28 points, playing less than 29 minutes, and the Rockets have now won 14 of 16. Chris Paul scored 10 points and dealt out 13 assists, and Eric Gordon put up 18. Kenneth Faried had 11 points and 11 boards for a double-double, and six Rockets would make it into double figures. Houston made 21 shots from downtown, including seven in the first period, and they were up by 21 points less than three minutes into the second period. Now the Rockets head to Milwaukee to take on a Bucks team that somehow lost in Cleveland but bounced back with home wins over Miami and those same Cavaliers, winning Sunday, 127-105 to avenge the setback. Giannis Antetokounmpo has recovered from an ankle sprain and put up 26 points and 10 rebounds in the win. He missed the Bucks’ loss in Cleveland but went 11 for 16, also dealing out seven assists and blocking four shots. George Hill and Khris Middleton each put up 17 for the Bucks, as Hill continues to make major contributions in the absence of Malcolm Brogdon (foot), going 7 for 8 on the night. This game makes for a possible NBA Finals matchup between two of the most exciting squads in the league. Can the Beard or the Greek Freak impose his will on this game? NBA Betting Prediction: Milwaukee 121, Houston 119
