Luka Doncic continues to make headlines in Dallas, despite the fact that the Mavericks are in 12th in the Western Conference, 4 ½ games behind the Lakers for the last playoff spot. His stepback three-pointer sealed a win over Minnesota this weekend. The Denver Nuggets still lead the West by a half-game over Golden State and by 2 ½ games over Oklahoma City. In the Eastern Conference, the top three teams (Toronto, Milwaukee and Indiana) have all won eight of ten, while the Chicago Bulls (seven games) and the Cleveland Cavaliers (12 games) are in the middle of some epic losing streaks. Thinking about some NBA betting on action this week? Take a look at our top three picks.

Top NBA Betting Picks of the Week – January 14th Edition

Monday, January 14

Portland at Sacramento (10:00pm ET)

Portland has rattled off four wins in a row, taking down the Rockets, Knicks, Bulls and Hornets in that span. On Friday, they dispatched the Hornets by 31 points at home, rolling to a 127-96 win. They almost got a triple-double from Jusuf Nurkic, even though he was able to rest for most of the fourth period. He put up 11 points, 11 boards, eight assists and six blocks. C.J. McCollum led the way with 30 points, nailing five shots from downtown, and Damian Lillard added 20 points — and both starters took the fourth off as well. The Portland bench combined for 48 points in the win as well. The Kings have won two in a row, knocking off Detroit on Thursday and then beating those same Hornets on Saturday night, rolling to a 104-97 victory. Willie Cauley-Stein has had double-doubles in both games and put up 12 points and 12 boards against the Hornets. Bodgan Bogdanovic led the team with 22 points, and the team went to 7-0 on the season when holding their opposition below 100 points. The Kings also showed some improved ball security, committing just 11 turnovers on the night. But can the Kings hold off a team with so many scoring options as Portland? NBA Betting Prediction: Portland 108, Sacramento 103

New Orleans at L.A. Clippers (10:30pm ET)

The New Orleans Pelicans have split their last 10 games, losing in their last outing, 110-106, in Minnesota on Saturday. Anthony Davis put up 30 points and 14 rebounds, giving him 13 straight double-doubles. Jrue Holiday chipped in 25 points and seven assists, and Julius Randle put up 22 points and 11 boards for his 21st double-double of the season, but the Pelicans could not keep up with the Timberwolves’ offensive onslaught. Now the Pelicans head to Los Angeles to take on the Clippers on Monday night. The Clippers have dropped two straight, including a 109-104 home loss to Detroit as Blake Griffin went off on his former team for 44 points. The Clippers did tie the game on a 17-7 run to start the fourth period, but they could not keep up with the Pistons. Danilo Gallinari put up 23 for the Clippers, Lou Williams scored 22 and Montrezl Harrell scored 21 points and pulled down nine boards. Even with that balance, they just had no answer for Griffin. Can they regroup in time for the Pelicans? NBA Betting Prediction: Los Angeles 110, New Orleans 103

Tuesday, January 15

Miami at Milwaukee (8:00pm ET)

Miami heads to Milwaukee riding a two-game winning streak after beating Boston at home by 16 and then Memphis at home by four, on Saturday night. The late highlight of the game was a blocked shot by Dwyane Wade on Shelvin Mack, who was driving to the rim for a key lay-up. Wade got the block and then won the jump ball after the ensuing scrum. Josh Richardson and Tyler Johnson each talled 14 points for Miami, and Derrick Jones Jr. and Bam Adebayo had 11 each. Now the Heat head to take on a Bucks team that has won eight of 10 and 12 of 15 and demolished Atlanta on the road on Sunday, rolling to a 133-114 laugher. In that win, Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 33 points, and Eric Bledsoe added a double-double with 24 points and 10 assists. Khris Middleton put up 17 points and 11 boards. The Bucks outscore their opponents by 9.1 points per game, tops in the NBA. Can the Heat take down the red-hot Bucks on the road? NBA Betting Prediction: Milwaukee 114, Miami 109
