Must Bet Games NFL Week 8

We’re almost at the mid-season turning point in the 2017 NFL regular season. For online betting enthusiasts, this has to be one of the more topsy-turvy seasons in recent memory. The Denver Broncos routed the Dallas Cowboys in Week Two — and then lost 21-0 at the lowly Chargers. Several starting quarterbacks have suffered injuries that will keep them out for weeks — Aaron Rodgers broke his collarbone in Week Six, and Carson Palmer broke his arm in Week Seven (which once again renews the call for Colin Kaepernick to get a job somewhere). Take a look at some of the best betting matchups we’ve put together for NFL Week 8. Each one comes with the latest NFL odds and, as always, home teams are in all caps.

PHILADELPHIA (-12) over San Francisco (1:00pm ET, FOX)

Yes, the San Francisco 49ers came within two points of winning at Washington two weeks ago. However, a 2-3 Dallas team went to Levi’s Stadium and delivered a 40-10 whipping of the Niners that featured an extremely rare event during the Jason Garrett era in Dallas — allowing a backup quarterback to perform mop-up duty, when Cooper Rush came on in relief of Dak Prescott. Carson Wentz looks like an elite quarterback, and the Philadelphia defense is light years’ ahead of what the Cowboys trot out, even with the return of Sean Lee. I see the Eagles delivering another rout at home. NFL Week 8 Pick: Philadelphia Eagles

Oakland (+3) vs BUFFALO (1:00pm ET, CBS) — O/U 45.5 (OVER)

The Greatness scored with no time left in regulation to knock off the Kansas City Chiefs, 31-30, on Thursday Night Football. They now come to Buffalo on ten days’ rest ready to take on a Buffalo team that is surprising opponents with its opportunistic offense. The Oakland Raiders can score at video-game speed, and if they could put up 31 on the Chiefs, they can hit 30 or more against the Bills. But the Raiders’ lack of much in the way of defense should turn this into another track meet — which means that you can make money off the “over.” NFL Week 8 Pick: Oakland Raiders

Dallas (PK) over WASHINGTON (4:25pm ET, FOX)

Are the Cowboys a safe bet in Week 8? The Redskins will come into this game after a Monday night showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles, while Dallas comes in on the high of a 40-10 rout of the San Francisco 49ers. Dallas showed what they do best in Santa Clara — handing the ball to Ezekiel Elliott and then using play-action to open up the passing game. The return of Sean Lee meant that the Dallas defense was not rife with miscommunication and silly errors — the holding call that took away Anthony Brown’s interception was, at best, a ticky-tacky call on the sort of contact that goes without a flag on just about every drive in the NFL. With Lee back, the Dallas defense is focused. The Redskins do have a strong running game with Chris Thompson, and with Kirk Cousins at quarterback the Cowboys need to be prepared to keep that strong pass rush coming and to hold coverage long enough to keep Cousins from torching them. Neither team plays all that well on defense — despite the addition of Josh Norman to that Washington secondary two years ago — so this will be one of those NFC East matchups that goes down to the wire, but I expect to see Dallas on top at the end. NFL Week 8 Pick: Dallas Cowboys

KANSAS CITY (-7.5) over Denver (8:25pm ET, ESPN)

The Los Angeles Chargers showed everyone how to beat Denver on Sunday. Load up the box with eight men and make Trevor Siemian beat you down the field. That’s actually been the blueprint for success for the past two weeks against the Broncos. If Denver can make Joey Bosa look great, imagine what they can do for that Kansas City defense. The Chiefs come in after suffering a last-minute, frustrating loss last Thursday in Oakland, so you can imagine that they have built up plenty of motivation to throttle a Denver team that already looks like the wheels have come off. NFL Week 8 Pick: Kansas City Chiefs
