Top Five Predicted Super Bowl LII Betting Matchups

One of the most fun NFL betting futures bets has to do with who will make it to Super Bowl LII. Even though it’s not quite yet July, you can still find odds as to which teams will win their respective divisions, which teams will break the .500 mark in the regular season — and which teams will show up in Super Bowl LII, set to take place in Minneapolis’ U.S. Bank Stadium. Let’s take a look at some of the matchups that the odds say are more likely to take place.

Top Five Predicted Super Bowl LII Betting Matchups

Dallas vs New England (15-1, +1500)

Get ready to see the Patriots a lot in this list, because the oddsmakers have them as the overwhelming favorite to win the AFC. Rob Gronkowski is slated to return to the New England offense, which showed that it was already unstoppable enough when he was out with a back injury. The drama in this matchup would be immense, with America’s Team taking on one of the teams that so many people in the NFL nation love to hate. The question is whether Dallas has the defense to make it through the treacherous waters of the postseason. On the Patriots’ side of the equation, is Tom Brady ageless enough to make it through another season unscathed?

Seattle vs New England (18-1, +1800)

This would be a terrific rematch of Super Bowl XLIX, which featured one of the craziest endings of any championship game in the history of American professional sports. Russell Wilson looks to be back in full health entering the 2017 campaign. But can the Seahawks (who beat New England on the road in 2016, the only team to do so) get Richard Sherman back on board with the team’s plans? Can Wilson guide the Seahawks past the Cardinals in the NFC West and through the postseason? Will they be able to overcome their problems last year of playing poorly when they were away from Seattle?

Atlanta vs New England (21-1, +2100)

The oddsmakers like the idea of a rematch. However, one thing that is a lot more likely is a Super Bowl hangover hitting the Atlanta Falcons, and hitting them hard. Last year, neither Denver nor Carolina made it back to the playoffs, even though they were the matchup in Super Bowl 50. Denver lost quarterback Peyton Manning to retirement and didn’t find a good replacement for him in Trevor Siemian, but the Panthers didn’t lose anyone on the offensive side, and lost only Josh Norman on defense — and they still struggled week in and week out. The Falcons blew an immense lead in the Super Bowl, and I see them struggling with motivation once the regular season hits — so this is not a matchup I would choose.

Green Bay vs New England (23-1, +2300)

For the Packers to make it to the Super Bowl, they need to get much better play out of their secondary, which almost gave up a huge halftime lead to the Dallas Cowboys in the divisional round of the postseason. They also need their offensive line to do a better job of protecting Aaron Rodgers, who had to spend way too much of last season running for his life. Rodgers is the sort of quarterback that can lead his team to win just about any game, in about any circumstance, but there are too many teams that can torch the Packer secondary for them to make it to the title game, at least on the basis of last season. The New York Giants are not a top favorite to win Super Bowl LII this season.

New York Giants vs New England (30-1, +3000)

Eli Manning will lead one of the more intriguing offenses in the NFC this year. He’ll have Victor Cruz and Odell Beckham Jr. to catch the ball. But will he be able to find them? Or will he continue his trend of throwing crippling interceptions at the absolute worst time for his team? He is the only quarterback that has ever beaten the New England Patriots in a Super Bowl. The Giants have made some big strides on the defensive side in the off-season, and they could push past Dallas to win the NFC East and then advance to the Super Bowl.
