NFL Week 7 Odds, Overview and Predictions

NFL Week 7 Odds, Overview and Predictions

Written by on October 15, 2018

We’re down to one unbeaten team remaining in the National Football League, as the Los Angeles Rams remain at 6-0. Kansas City took their 5-0 record to New England on Sunday night but saw their perfect slate end in a 43-40 shootout that showed both the brilliance of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the utter inability of the Chiefs’ defense to get a stop when they needed to. Dallas continued a largely schizophrenic season with a 40-7 throttling of Jacksonville that very few people saw coming. We have put together a NFL Week 7 odds preview of this coming week’s games with our prediction in each outcome. Home teams, as always, are in all caps.

NFL Week 7 Odds, Overview and Predictions

  • Bye Week: Green Bay, Oakland, Pittsburgh, Seattle

Thursday, October 18 (8:20pm ET)

Arizona (+2) over DENVER

The Arizona Cardinals put up 17 on Minnesota this past week as rookie quarterback Josh Rosen continued to show comfort in the offense. Denver lost yet again, as the Case Keenum era is not producing huge offensive returns.

Sunday, October 21 (9:30am ET, London)

L.A. Chargers (-6) over Tennessee

The trip to London tends to produce distractions and uneven play. The Chargers just delivered an emphatic rout of Cleveland, while Tennessee got blanked at home by Baltimore. I see the Chargers having enough to cover against the Titans.

Sunday, October 21 (1:00pm ET)

New England (-3) over CHICAGO

I would say that this sounds like a trap game after the Patriots took down Kansas City. But now that we’re through the first four games, is there such a thing? And can Mitch Trubisky really outduel Tom Brady, especially when he couldn’t outduel Brock Osweiler?

Buffalo (+6.5) over INDIANAPOLIS

The Colts should win this, but it will be closer than this spread. The Colts’ defense can’t stop anyone. However, pay attention to injury reports on this game. If Bills quarterback Josh Allen can’t go, then switch to Indy.

Detroit (NL) over MIAMI

Brock Osweiler pulled off a mirage in the Dolphins’ win over the Bears. Don’t expect him to be able to do that two weeks in a row.

Minnesota (-3) over N.Y. JETS

Sam Darnold is looking better and better each week at quarterback for the Jets, but the Minnesota machine is looking more and more solid each week either — and the Vikings have more talent on both sides of the ball.

PHILADELPHIA (-3.5) over Carolina

The Panthers’ reputation for physicality took a hammering by Washington this past week, as we learned that if you can get to 20 against this team, you should win every time.

TAMPA BAY (-2.5) over Cleveland

The Chargers showed us how to solve the Browns’ defense, and Jameis Winston has the arm and the receiving corps to do something similar to the Browns down in Florida.

Houston (+4.5) over JACKSONVILLE

The Jaguars are in a tailspin after giving up 70 points in the past two weeks — 30 to Kansas City and then 40 to Dallas, a team with no real options at wide receiver or at tight end. Deshaun Watson can lead his crew past the Jaguars.

Sunday, October 21 (4:05pm ET)

BALTIMORE (-2.5) over New Orleans

The Ravens have the defense to slow down the New Orleans offense, particularly outside on the road now that the weather is turning. Does the Saint defense have what it takes to slow down Joe Flacco?

Sunday, October 21 (4:25pm ET)

Los Angeles Rams (-11) over SAN FRANCISCO

C.J. Beathard at quarterback for the 49ers? A porous 49ers passing defense? It will be a long day in the Bay.

WASHINGTON (-2.5) over Dallas

The Cowboys are 0-3 on the road. They also have a way of looking terrible after they win, because other coaches make adjustments much more easily than does Jason Garrett.

Sunday, October 21 (8:20pm ET)

KANSAS CITY (-6) over Cincinnati

The Chiefs will have some frustration to take out in prime time over a Cincinnati team that couldn’t keep up with Big Ben last week.

Monday, October 22 (8:15pm ET)

ATLANTA (-3) over N.Y. Giants

Even the Falcons have enough defense to slow down Eli Manning, and Saquon Barkley will have another monster game that ends up not being quite enough. What will Odell Beckham Jr. head-butt this week?
