Green Bay Packers 2019 Season Win/Loss Total Betting Prediction

Green Bay Packers 2019 Season Win/Loss Total Betting Prediction

The Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears will play the first regular-season game of the NFL’s 100th Anniversary season at Soldier Field on Thursday, September 5. The Packers finished the 2018 campaign with a 6-9-1 record, but the NFL betting books have their win total for this fall’s season at 9 games. The Packers enter 2019 with a new head coach, as Matt LaFleur takes the reins. This is his first head coaching gig, but he has had some success as a quarterbacks coach and as an offensive coordinator. He comes from Tennessee, where he was the Titans’ offensive coordinator last year. LaFleur’s fortunes will be tied up with those of Aaron Rodgers, who is looking to rebound from a forgettable 2018 and return in top form. We will take a look at the Green Bay Packers’ prospects as well as their schedule for this season, with a suggestion for your wager on the win total.

Green Bay Packers 2019 NFL Season Win/Loss Total Betting Prediction

The Packers have a friendly first half to the schedule, opening with five of seven games at home. However, that means that six of their last nine games will be away from Lambeau Field. Can they ride that early stretch to build enough wins so that they can get past nine wins — and make the playoffs?
  • Week 1: at Chicago (Thursday)
  • Week 2: Minnesota
  • Week 3: Denver
  • Week 4: Philadelphia (Thursday)
  • Week 5: at Dallas
  • Week 6: Detroit (Monday)
  • Week 7: Oakland
  • Week 8: at Kansas City
  • Week 9: at L.A. Chargers
  • Week 10: Carolina
  • Week 11: BYE
  • Week 12: at San Francisco
  • Week 13: at N.Y. Giants
  • Week 14: Washington
  • Week 15: Chicago
  • Week 16: at Minnesota (Monday)
  • Week 17: at Detroit
The opener in Chicago is a tough test. However, the Bears traded away Jordan Howard. Can Mitch Trubisky outduel Aaron Rodgers, even at home? The Packers should be improved defensively under Mike Pettine’s scheme, but I’m not sure the Pack will be ready for Chicago on the road in prime time. Next come the Vikings at home. Last year, this ended up in a tie, as neither team could make a field goal to seal the win. This year, the Vikings are sour on Kirk Cousins, lamenting his huge contract — and there are questions about Dalvin Cook’s durability. I see Rodgers leading the Packers to a home win to bring the record to 1-1. Then come the Broncos, who will have Vic Fangio as their new head coach and aging Joe Flacco as their new quarterback. Will he be rejuvenated? Or will he struggle? The Packers need to force the Broncos to throw…and then take advantage of time of possession. I see Green Bay winning this at home. Philadelphia and Dallas will be interesting games. Both have young quarterbacks who are dealing with questions of consistency; I see Green Bay beating the Eagles but losing to Dallas, because of the Dallas defense. That makes the Pack 3-2. Detroit at home should be a win for the Packers, because the Lions still haven’t figured out how to play consistent defense. Oakland should be another win, as the Raiders are still in rebuilding mode. Then come some beatings, though, as the Packers head to Kansas City and to Los Angeles to play the Chargers. The Chiefs will overwhelm the Pack with offense, and the Chargers’ defense will limit Rodgers. Now we’re at 5-4. Then comes a possible three-game winning streak, with a home game against an inconsistent Carolina team and then a trip to San Francisco (also still rebuilding) and the Giants (a dumpster fire). Then a four-game stretch (Washington and Chicago at home, Minnesota and Detroit on the road) comes, and the Packers would need to win two of those to get over nine wins. Washington, with a rookie quarterback, and the game in Detroit seem the most winnable. But how durable is Rodgers this year? The Packers did spend on their defense, so Rodgers won’t have to outscore the opposition this year. I’d be a lot more optimistic on the “over” if it were 8 or 8 ½. At nine wins, I still lean toward the over, but there are other teams that I would spend more money on with regard to totals.
