Wednesday, May 30

FC Dallas at L.A. Galaxy (10:30pm ET)

FC Dallas went to Toronto back on Friday and delivered a gritty 1-0 win. Toronto FC possessed for 71 percent of the game and sent 23 shots, nine on goal, but were not able to sully the clean sheet for FC Dallas. It was a physical game, as the teams combined for 24 fouls and nine yellow cards (seven for FC Dallas), but Maximiliano Urruti’s goal in the 11th minute stood up for the visitors, as their defense made up for a ridiculous draw the week before in which they blew a two-goal lead in the last ten minutes with an own goal and a penalty. The Galaxy also won by a 1-0 score on Friday, beating the San Jose Earthquakes, but the possession was much more even, with the Galaxy holding onto the ball for 53 percent of the game. Romain Alessandrini delivered the game-winner in the 82nd minute, and the Galaxy were able to hold on for the win. The game featured 25 combined fouls, and the Galaxy forced seven corners to three for the Earthquakes. Soccer Betting Prediction: FC Dallas 1, L.A. Galaxy 1

Saturday, June 2

Philadelphia Union at Atlanta United (7:30pm ET)

Philadelphia visited the New York Red Bulls on Saturday and played to a scoreless draw. Things got a bit physical, as the teams combined for four yellow cards among 20 fouls, and possession was about even (53-47 in favor of the Red Bulls). New York outshot Philadelphia 12-10 (4-3 on target). In a game where neither team really made a spirited attack, it was a grinding effort between two teams down the Eastern Conference table. Philadelphia will have a much more intrepid side looking at them this week when they head to Atlanta to face the United. They were off over the weekend and face the New England Revolution on Wednesday, and their last match took place on May 20, when they took a bad loss at home against the New York Red Bulls. The visitors prevailed, 3-1, even though Atlanta took an early lead thanks to Ezequiel Barco’s tally in the 26th minute. The Red Bulls responded by converted a penalty to equalize in the 42nd minute, and then Bradley Wright-Phillips scored the second and third goals in a span of four minutes in the early going of the second half. Atlanta’s frustrations emerged late, as Greg Garza took a red card in the 71st minute, leaving the hosts a man down the rest of the way. The Red Bulls possessed 52 percent of the game, but Atlanta had more shots on goal (7-6) and forced more corners (5-4). Expect Atlanta to be ready to deal some revenge against New England tomorrow and Philadelphia on Saturday. Soccer Betting Prediction: Atlanta United 3, Philadelphia 1

Sunday, June 3

Minnesota United at Sporting KC (8:30pm ET)

The Minnesota United took down the Montreal Impact on Saturday, prevailing by a 2-0 score thanks to goals from Christian Ramirez in the 52nd minute and Miguel Ibarra just six minutes later. Those were two of just three goals Minnesota put on the Impact net, but they were enough for the win. Montreal possessed for 54 percent of the game, but Minnesota were able to make the most of their chances, controlling the game physically (with their bruising play drawing 16 whistles and a pair of yellow cards). Sporting KC played Eastern Conference contender Columbus on Sunday, and the game ended in a scoreless draw, despite Columbus playing the second half a man down, thanks to a straight red card shown to Federico Higuain in extra time at the end of the first half. Sporting KC possessed for 62 percent of the game, and the teams combined for 27 shots (six on goal). However, neither side was able to break through in a potential MLS Cup preview. Minnesota, though, should represent significantly less trouble on defense than Columbus did. Soccer Betting Prediction: Sporting KC 2, Minnesota United 1
