Leicester City was the surprise winner of the English Premier League four years ago, despite trailing the elite teams in England’s top division in payroll and talent. The Foxes are back near the top of the table again this season, in third place after four matches, four points behind Liverpool and two points behind Manchester City. They are three points ahead of eighth-place Manchester United, who will host the Foxes on Saturday in EPL play. Why should you bet on Leicester City?

Leicester City took care of business last weekend, routing Bournemouth by a 3-1 score at home. Jamie Vardy opened the scoring for the Foxes in the 12th minute, but Callum Wilson brought Bournemouth level just three minutes later. Youri Tielemans added a goal for Leicester City just before halftime, and then Vardy completed the brace with an insurance tally in the 71st minute. The Foxes outshot Bournemouth 15-8 (6-2 on target) and possessed for 55 percent of the game. If you like Leicester, you’re backing a team on the road that has had solid results so far, playing well against such top teams as Chelsea and Wolves, so they will not lack confidence as they head to Old Trafford, one of the most venerable stadiums in all of soccer. These two teams last met in February, and Leicester fell, 1-0. However, Leicester has the better form and confidence of the two sides. Both the draw and the Leicester win offer quite a bit of value given the superior soccer the Foxes are playing.

Why should you put your money on Manchester United?

Manchester has only won one match this season, a 4-0 demolition of Chelsea in the opener. Since then, they have drawn with Wolves, lost at home to Crystal Palace and drawn with Southampton, just a week ago. In that match against Southampton, Manchester United took a lead in the tenth minute with a goal from Daniel James and took that lead into halftime. However, Southampton got the equalizer from Jannik Vestergaard in the 58th minute, and the Red Devils could not answer with the game-winner despite having a man advantage for the last 17 minutes, with Kevin Danso getting a red card for Southampton. The Red Devils applied plenty of pressure in the match, outshooting Southampton 21-10 (8-2 on target) and possessing the ball for 59 percent of the match, passing the ball half again as many times as Southampton. However, Manchester United could not generate quality chances close in, and they paid the price for that lack of finish by taking the draw. If you like the Red Devils, you see them picking their form back up and playing with more confidence — but we have not seen them play a complete match since the opener.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

On paper, Manchester United should win this match going away. With that said, the Red Devils have not shown the sort of form that will deliver them a win on Saturday, while the Foxes have been playing at a level that they have not shown in four years. Given that high confidence, I see Leicester City taking the game to Man U — but I’m not sure they can deliver that road win. I like Leicester City to take an early lead and then hold on for the draw, settling for that road point, which will be crucial if they want to stay near the top of the table. I predict a final score of Leicester City 1, Manchester United 1.
