Wednesday, March 7

Basel at Manchester City (Champions League) (2:45pm ET, ESPN)

Soccer Betting Odds: Manchester City 2/17, Draw 33/4, Basel 24/1 The two teams squared off last month in Switzerland, and Manchester City delivered a 4-0 shellacking. The teams have not lost on their home turf since December 2016, and they have picked up wins in 10 of their last 13 Champions League matches on their own pitch. Sergio Aguero could get the day off, as Gabriel Jesus has returned from injury and could get the start. Fabian Delph returns from a three-game ban and could also see time for City. For Basel, key players Germano Vailati and Eder Balanta are also returning from injury but need to clear fitness tests before taking the field. Some other props that you might consider for this game including City keeping a clean sheet again at home. You can put down money at 5/7 for the shutout. You can also put down money at 8/5 that City will score at least twice in the first half. In the first leg, City had three goals in the first 23 minutes of the game. Do you think that City will win by three or more goals? You can wager that at 6/5. I see this game going City’s way, but I wonder if they will have their foot on the gas the whole way, and whether the lineup changes will influence chemistry. Check out the final starting XI posting before you make your wager. Soccer Betting Prediction: Manchester City 3, Basel 1

Juventus at Tottenham (Champions League) (2:45pm ET, fuboTV)

Soccer Betting Odds: Tottenham 23/20, Draw 23/10, Juventus 12/5 Tottenham Hotspur take on a Juventus team that have not lost since November. When the two teams met in the first leg in Turin back in February, Juventus went up by a 2-0 score, but then Tottenham roared back to secure the 2-2 draw. The war of words has been somewhat loud for a Champions League match, as Juventus have come out and said that league foe Lazio defends better than Tottenham. Given that Tottenham have the advantage at this point by playing at home and having picked up a pair of road goals in the first leg, you can also bet on them to advance at 2/5. Juventus’ odds to advance to the round of eight sit at 15/8. These odds are based on the road goal differential, though, as Tottenham have delivered inconsistently in EPL play as of late, while Juventus have dominated league play. However, I fully expect Tottenham to pack things in and play for the draw, given their road advantage. But can they get the goal they need before they withdraw into a shell? Soccer Betting Prediction: Tottenham 1, Juventus 1

Saturday, March 10

Liverpool at Manchester United (EPL) (7:30am ET, NBC Sports)

The North West derby unfolds on Saturday as Liverpool head to Manchester United to face off at Old Trafford. Each of the last four meetings between the two sides has ended in a draw, and both of these teams could finish second in the table. Manchester United almost had a disaster at Crystal Palace on Monday but stormed back from a 2-0 deficit to deliver a 3-2 win. Liverpool posted a clean sheet at home against Newcastle on Saturday, prevailing 2-0. Manchester United will be without Ander Herrera (hamstring), Zlatan Ibrahimovic (knees), Marouane Fellaini (knee) and Daley Blind (ankle), but Phil Jones, Marcus Rojo and Anthony Martial are all expected to return from their injuries. Liverpool has Champions League play against Porto on Tuesday, but they hold a 5-0 aggregate lead in the Round of 16, so they may go to the bench in the second half and let some key players rest. Soccer Betting Prediction: Manchester United 3, Liverpool 2
