2018 Wimbledon Men’s Quarterfinals Betting Predictions (July 11)

We’re down to the quarterfinals in the men’s draw at Wimbledon, with the matches set to take place in England tomorrow. Let’s take a look at each of the four matches as you plot out your Wimbledon betting strategy for the most venerable of the four Grand Slams.

2018 Wimbledon Men’s Quarterfinals Betting Predictions (July 11)

(1) Roger Federer vs (8) Kevin Anderson

Kevin Anderson has done well to make it to this point in the tournament, however, he has lost four consecutive matches to Federer — failing even to win a set in any of those matches. The fact that none of those matches took place on grass, Federer’s favorite surface, makes this an even more daunting task for Anderson. Federer has made it through the first four rounds in the tournament without yielding a single break on serve, going to break points just four times. Anderson has yielded six breaks to this point in the tournament, and he has a reputation for one of the best serves in professional tennis. 2018 Wimbledon Men’s Quarterfinals Betting Prediction: Federer wins in straight sets

(12) Novak Djokovic vs (24) Kei Nishikori

Both of these players are looking to reclaim their place among the top players in men’s tennis after missing extended amounts of time due to injury. Djokovic has 12 Grand Slam titles to his name, and Nishikori had risen as high as #4 in the world before having to take time out. Djokovic had rushed back from an elbow injury, which is why his early 2018 was not strong, but he is showing his old form when it comes to terrific counterattacking, groundstrokes that are accurate and deep, and a defense that is difficult to shake. He did drop a set to Kyle Edmund in the third round, but other than that, his game has been sound. Nishikori had wrist issues set him back but has also looked dominant. He simply shellacked Nick Kyrgios, one of the more mercurial players in men’s tennis, in a match that was one of the most impressive at Wimbledon to this point. Djokovic has won 13 of the 15 meetings between the two, but they have never played at Wimbledon. Djokovic appears to have come further in his rehab than Nishikori has, so I’m giving him the nod here. 2018 Wimbledon Men’s Quarterfinals Betting Prediction: Djokovic wins in four sets

(13) Milos Raonic vs (9) John Isner

Expect this match to take a while, as tiebreakers have been needed to determine set outcomes in six of the nine sets that these two men have played. The reason is that both of these players bring real heat with their serves. Raonic made the Wimbledon final in 2016 and the semis in 2014, while despite holding the ninth seed, Isner has never made it past the round of 32 until this year. Isner did win the Miami Master’s back in April. Raonic has fought through a knee injury this year, which is one reason why he has shown such inconsistent form in 2018. So despite the fact that Isner is still creating his tournament resume, that physical edge should push him to the win. 2018 Wimbledon Men’s Quarterfinals Betting Prediction: Isner wins in four sets

(2) Rafael Nadal vs (5) Juan Martin del Potro

Nadal is in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon for the first time in seven years, but he has made it here without losing a set — although the draw has been fairly soft for him to this point. Del Potro almost hit a fatal snag in the fourth round when he hit Gilles Simon and had a difficult time extricating him, but his big forehand and powerful serve are tailor made for play on grass. He will need his serve to be on in order to beat Nadal, but he should be able to do it, based on how he has been playing. Even though Nadal holds the higher seed, that has a lot do with his play on clay this season, which has simply been dominant. 2018 Wimbledon Men’s Quarterfinals Betting Prediction: Del Potro wins in four sets
