Rose Namajunas (8-3, +105) vs Jessica Andrade (19-6, -125)

represents an exciting matchup in one of the deepest women’s divisions in UFC. Namajunas has overcome a considerable amount of adversity, including mental health issues and mental errors in the cage, to take the title. Her upset over Joanna Jedrzejczyk came via knockout in about three minutes, and then she held the title in the rematch, a five-round brawl that showed Namajunas’ growth as a fighter. Namajunas has not done much since that bout, choosing to recover physically and mentally, and her “reward” is possibly the toughest challenger in the division in Andrade. Andrade brings big bombs and is one of the strongest strawweights around. She dropped down from bantamweight because she did not have the same strength of frame as many of her opponents, and while some were concerned that cutting twenty pounds would sap her of power, she answered those questions by delivering a shellacking of Jessica Penne in her strawweight debut. She lost her first title challenge, falling to Jedrzejczyk, but then trounced Claudia Gadelha. Andrade also has the home crowd behind her in Brazil. Namajunas will have to have a perfect fight to beat Andrade — however Namajunas is also susceptible to in-fight injuries. UFC 237 Prediction: Andrade wins via decision

Jared Cannonier (11-4) vs Anderson Silva (34-9)

gives us a cagy veteran on Silva who is clearly on the downside of his career but has used enough guile to steal some wins lately. He lost to Michael Bisping in 2016, which some saw as the end of a long run, but he has defensive skill and the ability to break his opponents’ rhythm and turn the fight to his advantage. That’s how he beat Derek Brunson via decision and Israel Adesanya as well, as he has used the defensive skills to avoid the big bombs. Cannonier entered UFC as a wild heavyweight who had fought in Alaska, and while he still likes to brawl, and some fighters have exposed his lack of skill. Glover Teixeira was able to beat him because he does not have much in th way of grappling defense, and Jan Blachowicz was able to keep him at bay with a steady jab. When he moved to middleweight, though, his physical strength allowed him to bull over David Branch. He likes to strike through everything in front of him. Is this enough to take down Silva? I think Silva has the wiles to avoid the big bombs and pick up points. UFC 237 Prediction: Silva wins via decision
