Dominick Reyes (11-0) vs Chris Weidman (14-4)

feature a pair of veteran middleweights who have moved up one classification. Chris Weidman’s reign atop the UFC middleweight classification came about through some unusual circumstances; he beat Anderson Silva with a quick punch while Silva was taunting him, and then Silva’s leg broke during the rematch. Then Weidman suffered a string of injuries before he lost the belt to Luke Rockhold. Poor results against the likes of Yoel Romero and Jacare Souza, in which he picked up points but then was dealt stoppage in the waning minutes, helped to motivate him to make his light heavyweight debut at UFC on ESPN 6. Dominick “The Devastator” Reyes started out with a string of wins over light heavyweight contenders, such as Jared Cannonier, Ovince St. Preux and Volkan Oezdemir. However, Oezdemir may have shown other fighters how to stop Reyes, as he brought constant pressure in a fight that went to the cards. So while Reyes might have won that fight with the judges, the idea of bringing pressure is one that others might well try. If Weidman can keep up the pressure, staying close enough to avoid Reyes’ kicks, he might be able to deliver the finish. However, Reyes is on a roll while Weidman has been watching his fights unravel late. Final Prediction: Reyes wins via decision

Yair Rodriguez (11-2, 1 NC), vs Jeremy Stephens (28-16, 1 NC)

is the redo of a headliner from Mexico City a few weeks back. The NC in both of these fighters’ records came about when Rodriguez accidentally poked Stephens in the eye. Rodriguez has seen his career slow down a bit the past few years, but he is still the face of UFC in Mexico. He won respect on “The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America,” and he picked up big wins over Andre Fili and Alex Caceres before running into some difficulty. He made a bit of a comeback in November, headlining at the last minute against Chan Sung Jung. He won the fight with a backwards elbow in the last second of the fight, delivering a knockout to win a fight that he was losing on the cards. It is that unpredictability that makes him intriguing to watch. Stephens was on a downward trend in UFC before moving down to featherweight. He picked up a few big wins but then dropped five of seven after he was given opportunities against tougher competition. However, since then he has won three of five, dropping tough fights against Jose Aldo and Zabit Magomedsharipov. If Stephens can keep his defenses up, he has a great shot at winning on the cards. However, Rodriguez is the master of the big finish. Final Prediction: Rodriguez wins via knockout
