  • Alex Chambers vs Livia Renata Souza (115 lbs)
The main event features Thiago Santos (18-6) and Eryk Anders (11-1) Santos (-150) comes in as the slight favorite. His athleticism is elite in the UFC ranks, and his kicks are powerful. He has delivered many of his wins by bringing the fight to the opposition and breaking them down quickly. However, that aggressive approach has brought him into some knockout losses, as his defense does not always measure up to par. In Anders, Santos faces a former linebacker at the University of Alabama who has moved into MMA. Anders has the power to overwhelm less experienced fighters, but when he runs into some veteran opposition, when he is fighting someone who is crafty and athletic, he can run into trouble. While Anders is up and coming, he may be over his head as the replacement for Manuwa. UFC Fight Night 137 Prediction: Santos wins via stoppage And what about down the card? Charles Oliveira (23-8) vs Christos Giagos (15-6) marks Oliveira’s continued return to lightweight after 12 featherweight appearances. In his three bouts since the return, he has gone 2-1, submitting Clay Guida and Will Brooks and losing to Paul Felder via TKO. Of Oliveira’s 21 wins, 15 have come via submission and six via knockout, leaving two to the cards. Giagos dropped two of three bouts in his first trip through UFC. However, he has won four of his last five, with the only setback coming via split decision against Shamil Nikaev. Oliveira has about three inches of reach advantage on Giagos — and Giagos is the inferior wrestler, so it’s hard to see this fight lasting long. UFC Fight Night 137 Prediction: Oliveira wins via stoppage Francisco Trinaldo (22-6) vs Evan Dunham (18-7) features a pair of pugilists who have shaken off tough starts to emerge as solid fighters. Trinaldo started out with a 4-3 record in MMA but then put together a seven-bout winning streak, including the only time anyone has beaten Paul Felder via stoppage. However, since then, he has dropped two of three, losing to James Vick and Kevin Lee but beating Jim Miller via decision. Dunham had lost four of five before going on a 3-0-1 streak, drawing against Beneil Darush in a comeback that saw him erase a 10-8 deficit after the first round. Trinaldo brings explosive striking power, while Dunham never stops bringing the pressure. Trinaldo is 40 years old and does not have the cardio to stay with Dunham if he keeps that pressure up. UFC Fight Night 137 Prediction: Dunham wins via unanimous decision
