Top WNBA Betting Picks of the Week – July 2nd Edition

The Washington Mystics and the Phoenix Mercury lead the Eastern and Western Conferences in the WNBA, respectively, with 10-6 and 13-5 records. However, the Connecticut Sun and the Seattle Storm are just a game back in those conference races. As we look to this week’s WNBA betting action, we’ve picked out three matchups for you to consider. As always, check final injury reports before locking in your wagers.

Chicago at Dallas (8:00pm ET)

The Dallas Wings (7-8) are coming off a tough home loss to Minnesota, which they came back from a halftime deficit but saw the Lynx take advantage of cold Dallas shooting in the waning minutes. They did lose center Liz Cambage, a key off-season acquisition, have to leave that game with concussion-like symptoms, and it is not clear whether she will be cleared for Tuesday’s action. Cambage did have 14 points in just 15 minutes of action, but Skylar Diggins-Smith led the team with 16 points and dished out seven assists while grabbing three boards, and Glory Johnson topped the Wings with eight boards. They face a Chicago Sky (6-10) team that lost to the 5-11 New York Liberty in overtime on Sunday, falling 97-94. Guard Allie Quigley led the Sky with 28 points, while Courtney Vandersloot picked up 20 points, six boards and five assists. Center Stefanie Dolson had a nice double-double with ten points and ten boards. Cheyenne Parker (13 points) and Diamond DeShields (12 points) rounded out the double-figure scorers. With Cambage out, I”m not sure the Wings can keep up with the Sky, but check your injury updates before wagering. WNBA Betting Prediction: Chicago 82, Dallas 77

Los Angeles at Minnesota (8:00pm ET, ESPN2)

The Los Angeles Sparks just split a home-and-home with the Las Vegas Aces, with the home side winning each time. Yesterday, the Sparks rolled to an 87-71 win. Jantel Lavender led the Sparks with 17 points and also grabbed three boards. Nneka Ogwumike led the team in rebounding with seven and also chipped in a dozen points. Candace Parker (12), Chelsea Gray (13) and Odyssey Sims (10) also scored in double figures. The Sparks visit a Minnesota Lynx team that is on a seven-game winning streak, most recently knocking off the Dallas Wings on Sunday. Forward Maya Moore did the damage for Minnesota on Sunday, scoring 26 points and pulling down six rebounds. Sylvia Fowles led the Lynx with nine rebounds and added 14 points. Seimone Augustus also added 13 points, and Lindsay Whalen led the team with six assists. As well as the Lynx have been playing, I expect them to win at home over a Sparks team dealing with inconsistency issues. WNBA Betting Prediction: Minnesota 81, Los Angeles 73

Connecticut at Phoenix (10:00pm ET)

After taking a 97-88 loss against the Sky on June 24, the Phoenix Mercury have gotten back on track, rolling off three wins in a row by an average of 14 points apiece. Their most recent game was on Saturday as they beat the Washington Mystics on the road by an 84-74 count. Center Brittney Griner led the scoring with 24 points, just ahead of DeWanna Bonner, who had 23. Yvonne Turner also got into double figures with 12 points and led the team with nine rebounds. Diana Taurasi was the assist leader with nine helpers. Connecticut comes to town after taking an 84-70 thrashing from the Seattle Storm on Sunday. In that game, Alex Bentley came off the bench to lead the Sun with 15 points, and Betnijah Laney put up 11 points along with six boards. Jonquel Jones added 10 points and four rebounds. Four Connecticut players had six rebounds, while Bentley led the team with four assists. Phoenix has a huge edge in talent and gets to play at home, so I’m taking the Mercury to roll. WNBA Betting Prediction: Phoenix 90, Connecticut 79
