NASCAR Cup Series Odds and Betting Opportunities for Cook Out Southern 500

Chris Buescher won his third Cup Series race of 2023 when he took first at the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway, the last race in the regular season. Buescher benefited from three extra laps after Ryan Preece had a highlight-reel wreck on the backstretch. Buescher’s win saw Bubba Wallace clinch the last spot in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs on the basis of points. Chase Elliott needed to win the race to get into the playoffs but found himself blocked in by Fords in overtime. Elliott did come in fourth, but he will still miss the playoffs for the first time as a Cup Series driver. He did miss seven races during the season, one due to suspension and six due to injury, so it’s likely that this season result is a one-off. The playoffs begin at Darlington Raceway on Sunday with the Cook Out Southern 500. Sixteen drivers in the field are eligible for the season championship and NASCAR Cup Series Odds, and this is the first of three races that will shrink the eligible field to a dozen. The race starts at 6:00 pm Eastern time, and you can catch the action on USA Network. Listen to the call on Motor Racing Network or SiriusXM.

William Byron

won the Darlington spring race and should have won it in 2022 as well. He has posted a top-five driver rating in four of the last five races here, according to DraftKings.

Martin Truex Jr

has the top rating in this field over the last 10 races at Darlington. His lowest rating in that stretch is ninth, and his rating was first or second in four of those outings.

Kyle Larson

knows how to lead laps at Darlington, with 715 led in 11 races. That means a lot of chances to stack up points for leading those laps.

Denny Hamlin

has posted a top-five driver rating in six of the last eight races at Darlington, and he had the best driver rating in two of the last three races here.

Kyle Busch

is driving the No. 8 RCR Chevrolet, which Tyler Reddick raced to a podium finish in each of the races here in 2022. Busch had the third-best rating here in the spring, and he has a top-five driver rating in four of the last five races here.

Kevin Harvick

looked solid in the spring race, but bad pit stops kept him from winning. If he races in the No. 4 SHR Ford again, he could be a real spoiler in the playoffs.

Tyler Reddick

loves to hug the wall, and the only groove at Darlington runs along the wall. He could ride that advantage to a big win.

Chase Elliott

has to have a huge chip on his shoulder now after missing out on the playoffs. He has raced well in the past, and he has nothing to lose in terms of strategy since he can’t win the playoff title.

Christopher Bell

qualified for the Championship 4 in 2022 and sits in third place in the standings going into the playoffs.

Ross Chastain

is almost always right there at the end of races, and many times this results in a wreck that either ends his own day or that of an opponent. He drives hard and leaves everything on the track, so he’s always a factor to consider.
