Ty Majeski enters his second full season in NASCAR’s truck circuit riding the momentum of a fourth-place finish in the 2022 driver standings. He won two races last season, and the fact that both wins came in the playoffs showed that his driving definitely improved over the course of the year. There are a lot of drivers who wilt under the pressure of playoff racing, but Majeski’s comfort with his truck and with the sport clearly grew. In the 2022 NextEra Energy 250, Majeski settled for seventh place, but based on how he improved last year, he’s a smart pick for 2023.

Grant Enfinger bounced back a bit in 2022 after finishing outside the top ten in the driver standings the year before. His seventh-place finish in 2022 showed that the promise he had demonstrated in 2020, when he won at Daytona (and on two other occasions) and finished in the top four of the driver standings, had not been a flash in the pan. His 2022 form and his prior win at Daytona combine to make him another smart pick.

Corey Heim finished 14th in the driver standings last year despite only competing on a part-time basis in the truck series. He won a couple of races and is viewed as an up-and-coming racer here. Will moving to full-time competition help him gain even more confidence? We don’t have a lot of history for him at Daytona, which is one reason he sits a bit further down the odds list than some of the others.

Zane Smith comes into 2023 as the defending champion in the Craftsman Truck Series. After finishing in 2021 and 2022 as the runner-up, winning was a breakthrough, and he is also the defending champion at the NextEra Energy 250. He won the opening race and the championship race last year, so he will definitely have a target on his back. Will he be able to transcend the pressure and get another season-opening win?
