NASCAR Xfinity Series Alsco Uniforms 250 Odds and Betting Preview of the Race

Cole Custer came away with the win in The Loop 121 last week, the first street race in the history of the Xfinity Series. The win comes with a bit of a caveat, as pouring rain left so much standing water on the course that NASCAR opted to end things three laps short of the halfway mark and five laps short of the end of Stage 2. Custer led all 25 of the laps that were completed before NASCAR issued the red flag, initially postponing the end to Sunday morning. However, the rain kept coming, forcing the early end to the race. This was Custer’s second win in 2023 and his tenth top-ten finish in a row. John Hunter Nemechek came in second and still leads the Xfinity Series standings by 16 points over Austin Hill. This week, the Xfinity Series moves to Atlanta Motor Speedway with the Alsco Uniforms 250 set for Saturday night. The action starts at 8:00 pm Eastern time, and you can watch the race on USA Network or listen on PRN or SiriusXM. Austin Hill

is looking for his third win in a row at Atlanta Motor Speedway, freshly repaved. This “intermediate superspeedway” has played into Hill’s strengths the last two races. Hill has three wins in 2023 in the Xfinity Series, two of which came on tracks where close-quarters racing and drafting are part of the game – Daytona and Atlanta. He will also be running in the Cup Series race on Sunday (the Quaker State 400).

An interesting dark horse is Sammy Smith, who makes his second career start in the Xfinity Series at Atlanta Motor Speedway. In the spring race, he got to start from the pole after qualification was rained out. However, he had issues with car handling and settled for 17th place. Last week at The Loop 121, he started from eighth place and got some points in Stage 1 by finishing seventh. When Stage 2 was called early, Smith was given a sixth-place finish. He is in the running for the 2023 Xfinity Series Rookie of the Year award, along with Parker Retzlaff, Blaine Perkins and Chandler Smith. Smith won at Phoenix in March, thanks in part to the work of pit crew chief Jeff Meendering, who has seven Xfinity Series wins as a crew chief. His teams have amalgamated 56 top-five finished, 117 top-ten finishes and 11 pole positions.
