The third week of Big3 basketball action comes from Legacy Arena at the BJCC in Birmingham, Alabama and State Farm Arena in Atlanta. If you’re not sure just what Big3 is, it is 3-on-3 halfcourt basketball involving players who are either not quite in the NBA or have retired but are continuing to play professionally. There are 12 teams in the league, with Power, Triplets, Killer 3’s, Ghost Ballers and 3 Headed Monsters all sitting at 2-0 after the first two weeks. Bivouac and Enemies are 1-1, while Tri-State, Trilogy, Ball Hogs, Aliens and 3’s Company are all at 0-2 (with tiebreakers determined by aggregate point differential). We have your Week 3 schedule along with Big 3 Basketball betting thoughts for each matchup.

2019 Big 3 Basketball Week 3 Betting Preview

July 6 (Birmingham, AL)

  • 3’s Company (0-2) vs Tri-State (0-2)
  • Aliens (0-2) vs Ball Hogs (0-2)
  • Enemies (1-1) vs Ghost Ballers (2-0)
2019 Big Basketball Week 3 Predictions: Tri-State over 3’s Company, Aliens over Ball Hogs, Ghost Ballers over Enemies The Enemies beat the Ball Hogs by five last week, led by 19 points from Craig Smith, but three of the Enemies scored in double figures, as they erased a 12-point deficit in the second half to get the win. Gilbert Arenas had 13 points in his Big3 debut and made the two-point free throw to seal the win. Royce White put up 10. The Ball Hogs got a big night from Will McDonald, who scored 21 of the team’s 34 points in the first half, and he had 27 points and 11 boards. When he had to go to the bench, though, the Enemies were able to make their run. The Ball Hogs have lost seven consecutive games, dating back to Week 3 of 2018. The Ghost Ballers beat Bivouac by five last week in a game that the Ghost Ballers led by ten early but then only led by three at the half. It took a 10-0 run to get to point-game, and they won when Jamario Moon put back a Bivouac air ball. Moon, Ricky Davis and Mike Taylor combined for 51 points in the win. Will Bynum was the top scorer for Bivouac with 17, including the team’s only three-ball. Josh Smith had just ten points, and Anthony Morrow dropped from 16 points in the opener with just seven this week. The Aliens turned a huge lead into a defeat, as the 3 Headed Monsters went on a 29-10 run to end the game, including scoring the last 14 points of the game. Rashard Lewis ended the game with a three-ball and had 18 points overall, 16 in the second half. Reggie Evans had 10 points and 9 rebounds, and Larry Sanders had eight points and 10 boards. The Aliens looked solid early, getting 13 points from Brandon Rush in the first half, but he would only get two more after halftime, and no other Alien had more than eight points.

July 7 (Atlanta, GA)

  • Triplets (2-0) vs Bivouac (1-1)
  • 3 Headed Monsters (2-0) vs Killer 3’s (2-0)
  • Trilogy (0-2) vs Power (2-0)
2019 Big Basketball Week 3 Predictions: Triplets over Bivouac, Power over Trilogy, Killer 3’s over 3 Headed Monsters Last week, the Triplets beat Trilogy by ten despite trailing 19-8 in the early going. They took a seven-point lead into halftime and never looked back. Trilogy pulled within a bucket, but then the Triplets went on a 10-2 run, as Joe Johnson finished the game with the last eight points, including his first 4-point make of his career. Interestingly, except for the runs at the end of the first and second halves, Trilogy outscored the Triplets by ten. Johnson put up 20 points and five assists, and he now has two straight 20-point outings. Al Jefferson dominated inside, putting up 14 points. Trilogy is still not getting enough from Jason Terry, who had just three points. James White had 18 points — but Trilogy only has 51 combined points from everyone else in their first two games, and 35 from White. That needs to change. 3’s Company took an 18-point beating from the Killer 3’s last week, as the Killer 3’s trailed 19-17 but then finished the half on a 10-0 run and then won the second half by 10 more points to win, 50-32. Stephen Jackson put up 22 points, including 13 in the first half and a 4-point shot in the second half. Donte Greene put up 9 and C.J. Watson chipped in 14. Baron Davis is still out for 3’s Company, who struggles to score. Andre Emmett and Drew Gooden led the team with 10 points each, but they need more offense if they are going to compete. Power beat Tri-State by seven points after going into the locker room up five. Cuttino Mobley had 14 points in the second half to key Power down the stretch, scoring 23 points overall. Glen Robinson had 10 points, Julian Wright scored eight, and Mychal Thompson put up six points and 11 boards. Tri-State got 18 points from Amar’e Stoudemire, a dozen from Nate Robinson and nine points and nine boards from Yakhouba Diawara, but Bonzi Wells and Jermaine O’Neal remain on the shelf.
