Seahawks vs 49ers 2019 NFL Week 10 Odds & Game Preview

Written by on November 8, 2019

The San Francisco 49ers prepare to welcome the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football as the NFL’s last unbeaten team. Some of their wins have been most impressive, such as their 31-3 undressing of the Cleveland Browns and their 51-13 pasting of the Carolina Panthers, Others have been hideous at best, such as that 9-0 win in Washington and that three-point scare last Thursday at Arizona, but that’s life in a parity-driven NFL. The 49ers lead with their defense, and when the offense clicks, this is a dangerous team. Seattle is 7-2, with both of their losses coming at home, to New Orleans and Baltimore. Since that loss to the Ravens, the Seahawks have beaten Atlanta by seven and Tampa Bay in overtime. Of the team’s six wins, only one (at Arizona) came by more than six points, and two of them have come by a single point. Which team will roll on Monday night? We’ve got your NFL betting preview right here.

Why should you bet on the Seahawks?

Seattle got another game for the ages from Russell Wilson in that win over Tampa Bay, as he went 29 for 43 for 378 yards and five scores. Wide receiver Tyler Lockett caught 13 of those passes for 152 yards and two of those scores. The running game was clicking as well, as tailback Chris Carson broke the 100-yard barrier. The defense was somewhat iffy, of course, as they permitted 418 yards of offense and 34 points, and kicker Jason Myers did miss a pair of field goals, so there is still room for improvement.

The Seahawks have built a reputation as a tough home team thanks to that raucous 12th Man atmosphere, but they have been strong for bettors away from Seattle, covering 8 times in their last 10 games out of town. Also, in this series, Seattle has won nine of the last ten meetings — so they have the Niners’ number, at least for now. For some reason, Week 10 has been solid for them as well, as they have covered seven times in their last nine games at this point of the season. If you like Seattle, you see their high-octane offense continuing to stack up points. They do have the higher ceiling of the two offenses when it comes to personnel.

Why should you put your money on the 49ers?

Jimmy Garoppolo has had uneven numbers on the season, but against Arizona, he had a solid night, going 28 for 37 for 317 yards and four touchdowns. Emmanuel Sanders caught seven of those passes for 112 yards and a score. The issues came on defense, as the generally ironclad 49ers defense got a scare from the upstart Cardinals. San Francisco led 28-14 going into the fourth quarter, but then Arizona put up 11 unanswered points, and San Francisco had to hold on tight for that three-point win.

This 49ers season has been a bit of an outlier, as San Francisco has still just covered twice in their last eight games against NFC West competition. But they do seem to have a hammerlock on prime time games not played on Sunday, as they have covered on Monday Night Football 27 times in their last 34 appearances (and their Thursday numbers are pretty impressive as well). If you like the 49ers, you see them turning the tables on a trend of dominance by the Seahawks over the last five seasons.

Final Score Prediction

San Francisco has lived dangerously in some of their recent wins, and Seattle’s Pete Carroll has had their number in game planning over the past few years. I see the Seahawks delivering a big road win and cutting the 49ers down to size a bit. I predict a final score of Seattle 30, San Francisco 27.
