Astros vs Yankees 2019 ALCS Game 3 Odds & Betting Prediction

Carlos Correa finally got a sense of redemption in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series. After some extended missed time due to injuries, Correa had had a hard time finding his timing. However, in Game 2, he made a terrific play at shortstop, hit an RBI double, and then delivered the winning home run off J.A. Happ in the top of the 11th inning. He had gone just 3 for 22 to start the postseason before Game 2 began, but he delivered big time and now has the Houston franchise record for playoff RBI, with 27. Now the series shifts to Yankee Stadium for a Tuesday matinee in Game 3. Can the Yankees hold onto home field advantage? Or will Correa and the rest of the Astros keep the momentum going in their direction? We have your ALCS preview right here.

Astros vs Yankees 2019 ALCS Game 3 Odds & Betting Prediction

When: Tuesday, October 15, 2019, 4:08 pm ET Where: Yankee Stadium, The Bronx, NY TV: FS1 Radio: ESPN Radio Live Stream: ESPN+ MLB Odds: Houston -160 / N.Y. Yankees +150 / O/U 7.5 Projected Pitching Matchup: Gerrit Cole (2-0, 0.57 ERA) (HOU) vs Luis Severino (0-0, 0.00 ERA) (NY)

Why should you bet on the Astros?

In his first two postseason starts, Gerrit Cole has thrown a combined 19 ⅔ innings, permitting one earned run on a solo shot, one of six hits. He has fanned 25 men and walked just 3. He has not taken a loss since May 22, when the White Sox pounded him for six earned runs in five innings. Since then he has only given up more than two earned runs in three games and, should he get the win in Game 3, that would be his 19th consecutive winning decision. This is an historic streak, one that Yankee Stadium will put to the test. The Astros also come in on the strength of a 3-2 win in Game 2, as Carlos Correa delivered the game-winning home run in the 11th inning, driving in two runs in the game overall. The Houston bats have not done much damage so far in this series, scoring just three runs combined, but they got the runs in Game 2 when they counted, so they avoided heading to The Bronx in a 2-0 hole. In the past few seasons, the Astros have shown that they will deliver the big hits when they need them, and with Cole almost unhittable so far in the postseason, they come in with a huge mental edge.

Why should you put your money on the Yankees?

Luis Severino enters Game 3 with a perfect ERA so far in this postseason. He threw four innings on October 7 against the Minnesota Twins, as the Yankees completed a three-game sweep of their American League Division Series. Severino scattered four hits, striking out four while walking two. The Minnesota Twins hit more home runs than any other team in 2019, but they could not find a good pitch to hit against Severino as they bowed quietly out of this year’s postseason. The New York bats lit up Zack Greinke like a pinball machine in the opener, and they were able to do enough damage against Justin Verlander in Game 2 to send the game to extra innings. Given how dominant Verlander had been down the stretch and in the Astros’ Division Series against Tampa Bay in Game 1, it looked like the Yankees would have a tough time. If they keep coming to the plate with confidence, they should get a few pitches to hit; it’s up to them to make the most of those opportunities.

Final Score Prediction

The Astros take the win.
