Packers vs Seahawks NFL Week 11 Odds & Pick

Written by on November 13, 2018

The Green Bay Packers are 4-4-1 on the season but head to Seattle looking for their first win away from Lambeau Field. They need this win to keep pace with the streaking Chicago Bears, who lead the NFC North with a 6-3 record. They will face a Seahawks team that is 4-5, but with two of those losses coming to the 9-1 Los Angeles Rams. Despite that awful road record, the Packers dusted Miami by 19 points last week and hung with the Rams on the road three weeks ago, losing by just two points. Seattle has lost to both of the Los Angeles teams in the last two weeks and needs to turn things around if they plan even to play for a wild card, as they are effectively five games out of first with seven to play. Check out our NFL betting preview for this midweek prime-time affair.

Why should you bet on the Packers?

Green Bay has yet to win consecutive games this season but need to avoid a fifth loss, because along with that tie they  need every win they can get, even if they just have their eyes on the wild card. Aaron Rodgers has been splendid this season, with 17 touchdown passes against just one interception. Davante Adams and Jimmy Graham have combined for 11 touchdowns, and tailback Aaron Jones has emerged in a hurry, now with 494 yards and four touchdowns. The defense has been the issue at times, permitting 24 points per game but giving up big plays at just the wrong time. Thursday night games are tough for many teams, but Green Bay has covered in four of their last five. However, against the NFC they have just covered twice in their last nine games and just once in their last six road contests. Against Seattle, Green Bay has covered in four straight, but the home team has covered in six of the last seven games between the teams. So if you like the Packers, you see old-school Aaron Rodgers terrorizing the Seattle defense and getting the upset.

Why should you put your money on the Seahawks?

Seattle has struggled at home this year, a departure from their normal pattern. Quarterback Russell Wilson is having a strong season, with 21 touchdown passes against just five interceptions. He has three touchdown passes in four of his last five contests, so he has been heating up. On the ground, the Seahawks average 152 yards per game, led by Chris Carson. The defense is not quite up to its usual standards, permitting 21.3 points per game. Seattle has covered the spread just twice in their last seven contests, and Green Bay has not covered in five of their last seven games when they were predicted to lose by at least two points. So if you like the Seahawks here, you think their defense will mount a pass rush that can keep Aaron Rodgers from his usual dominant form (particularly in the fourth quarter) and that the Seahawks will take advantage of a Packer defense that has given up a lot of big plays down the field.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction for Packers vs Seahawks

It’s hard to pick against Aaron Rodgers, but with that left knee, he has been slightly less mobile this year, and the uptick in play from Wilson this year has been significant. Seattle has found enough of a running game behind Chris Carson to give Wilson some balance, and that should be enough to put up points on Green Bay. I predict a final score of Seattle 27, Green Bay 23.
