Eagles at Rams Odds: NFL Game Lines, Expert Picks & Score Prediction in Week 12 – 2024 Season

Written by on November 12, 2024

SNF Eagles at Rams Odds | Back in 2017, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Los Angeles Rams played a game that would prove momentous in the career of then-Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz.

He threw for 291 yards and four touchdowns as the Eagles won, 43-35, moving to 11-2 on the season.

He left with a torn ACL that would end his season. Famously, Nick Foles would take Wentz’s spot and lead the Eagles to an amazing Super Bowl championship, even though the Eagles were sports betting underdogs in each game.

Wentz would heal and return to the NFL, but he never had the same game after that injury.

After washing out in Philadelphia, he was signed to start for the Indianapolis Colts in 2021 and the Washington Commanders in 2022, but he could not find the performance level he showed before that ACL tear.

Some ascribe it to Wentz’s arrogant approach and refusal to accept coaching, while others suggest that Wentz never really found the same confidence in his repaired knee.

He backed up Matthew Stafford for the Rams in 2023 and is now Patrick Mahomes’ backup in Kansas City.

On Sunday night, the Eagles return to Los Angeles, once again atop the NFC East, while the Rams are in the thick of an extremely tight NFC West race.

Read on to get our prediction for this prime-time showdown between potential playoff opponents.

Philadelphia Eagles SNF Line -157

Philadelphia heads to the Rams a bit fresher than their opponents, as they played Washington last Thursday, winning in 26-18 fashion. While their five previous wins had come against teams with losing records, Washington is a quality team, and the Eagles were able to impose their will in a game that wasn’t as close as that final score. They still have a chance to challenge Detroit for the top NFC seed and the first-round playoff bye that comes with it. They still have to play Baltimore and Pittsburgh, but they are mostly healthy and are firing on all cylinders.

Jake Elliott

The only real blip against Washington came from kicker Elliott, who missed two field goals in the first half and then missed an extra point in the fourth quarter after Philadelphia took the lead. Since 2021, he had the second-highest field goal percentage among kickers with at least 80 attempts (90.9%) but has seen five field goals go wide in 2024.

Quinyon Mitchell

A bright spot was cornerback Mitchell, the rookie cornerback who permitted zero receptions on one target while playing 32 snaps as the nearest defender in pass coverage. Mitchell found himself opposite Washington’s best receiver, Terry McLaurin, multiple times, but he’s only allowing 0.9 yards per coverage snap in 2024. That ranks sixth among the 44 cornerbacks with at least 200 coverage snaps played this season.

Saquon Barkley

The acquisition of Barkley continues to pay off. Against a stout Washington defense, Barkley ran for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Also, the defense is improving in recent weeks. Tampa Bay hung 33 on the Eagles in Week 4, but since then they have held two teams to single digits and have not permitted more than 23 points in any game. They are tops in the league in total defense (273.1 yards per game) and sixth in scoring defense (17.9 points allowed per game).

Los Angeles Rams SNF Line +128

The Rams went east and got a win at New England, but that 28-22 final score wasn’t the convincing thumping that many had anticipated. Their offense showed real signs of life, but their 28 points all came in the second and third quarters. They went an entire game without turning the ball over for the first time since Week 3. One particularly impressive play was Matthew Stafford’s second-quarter scoring pass to second-year receiver Puka Nacua.

The Stats

NFL Next Gen Stats gave that pass a 13.5% completion probability, the lowest on any of Stafford’s touchdown passes since 2017, when Next Gen Stats started tracking that metric. After a 1-4 start, the Rams have moved to 4-5 and are in the thick of a crazy NFC West race. Against the Eagles, though, they will need to get off to a better start. In the first quarter, the Rams have a -50 point differential this season, the worst number in the league.

The Defense

The Rams’ defense has improved even without Aaron Donald. Jared Verse is their newest terror in the pass rush and is the favorite to win Defensive Rookie of the Year. If he can harass Jalen Hurts and help bog down the Eagles’ running game, then we’ll see Philadelphia playing behind the chains. On offense, they rank eighth in the league at 240.6 yards per game, and those numbers don’t reflect the absence of Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua for much of the first half of the season.

With those two in the lineup, the Rams become a completely different team. So far, they have played just 11 games combined, so the second half of the season should see them climb the standings. At tailback, Kyren Williams has already scored eight touchdowns, seven of them coming at home. He is third in the league in carries (191) and ninth in yards (750).

SNF Eagles at Rams Odds, Final Score and Prediction in Week 12

The Rams are 3-1 straight up in their last four games as underdogs, either at home or at San Francisco. When the Eagles have been road favorites with a rest advantage, they have actually dropped three of their last four opportunities. The Rams have a four-game winning streak against the spread when playing on Sunday against teams with records above .500. The Rams need this win a lot more than the Eagles do, but the key for them will come with keeping the Eagles’ running game from dominating the rhythm of the contest.

Los Angeles Injuries

As far as injury news is concerned, Rob Havenstein didn’t practice Wednesday but was limited on Thursday. We’ll see what happens in Friday practice. Having him against a tough Philly defensive front could be huge. Cornerback Cobie Durant (thigh) went from limited to full participation in practice and will play. This is also true for offensive lineman Joe Noteboom and nose tackle Neville Gallimore, who the Rams will need if they want to keep Barkley and Hurts from running all over the field – and if they want to stop Philadelphia’s “Tush Push.” Cornerback Charles Woods did not appear in Thursday practice and is doubtful for Sunday.

Philadelphia Injuries

For the Eagles, one of the biggest names on the injury report is wide receiver DeVonta Smith (hamstring), who did not practice Wednesday or Thursday. He has 41 catches and four receiving touchdowns to lead Philadelphia in both stats. If he can’t go, then Jahan Dotson and rookie Johnny Wilson will have more targets. Wide receiver Britain Covey could come off IR as well after practicing fully on Wednesday and Thursday. The Rams have permitted 7.5 yards per pass attempt, the third-highest average in the NFL. They are also permitting 14.7 yards per catch to wide receivers, the second-highest average. So there should be room for Jalen Hurts to throw the ball – if his receivers can get separation.

Leadership and intangibles have been a question in Philadelphia since the midpoint of last season, when a 10-1 start turned into an 11-6 finish and an ugly wild-card loss. The team looks solid this year, but they’re playing a Rams team that has found its groove.

I predict a final score of Los Angeles 27, Philadelphia 23.
