Brady vs. Manning: An Epic QB Match

Written by on January 22, 2016

Bears vs Packers. Yankees vs Red Sox. Magic vs Bird. Duke vs UNC. Brady vs Manning. Each of these are illustrious rivalries that have highlighted sports in the past. One of these rivalries continues to show up again and again and that never stops amazing fans of NFL betting is Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning. The two rivals have faced off a whopping 16 times in their storied careers, 4 times in the playoffs. 3 times competing for the AFC Championship. Fans are hyped throughout the world in preparation for this game – even the players themselves have said that they’re preparing insanely hard for this game. They know they’re facing against one of their most competitive rivals, and they want to win.
In the history of Brady vs Manning, things have been far from boring, even with Tom Brady holding an 11-5 record over Manning. Thinking about things in a closer light, this means these guys are competing against each other for the 17th time this week. That’s more games than are in an entire NFL season! Although Brady holds the edge in total, Manning is 2-1 against Brady when the matchups mean the most – in the AFC Championship games. In the playoffs in total, they are evenly matched at 2-2. Let’s look at Manning vs Brady’s history as if it was an entire season. In the 16 games each player has played in, Brady has a whopping 31 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions against the Broncos/Colts mix (mostly the Colts). He has also thrown for over 4,000 yards against Manning in his career. Looking on Manning’s side, things look a bit more reckless. He’s thrown for 33 touchdowns, which is a few more than Brady’s count of 31, but has also thrown for 22 interceptions, which is a huge differentiation from his career averages. Manning has thrown for more yards, with over 4,800 yards against Brady in 16 games as well. Brady and Manning could be meeting for the last time. Coming into this game, the past doesn’t mean much though. This is a matchup of two different teams than we’ve seen in years past. Denver has finally focused their efforts on putting together a defensive squad like no other after becoming one of the worst defenses in the NFL in year’s past. This has allowed Manning to regress, and the Broncos to still be the top team in the AFC. The Patriots have looked fantastic all year, except for a two-game slide they suffered at the end of the season, losing to the Jets and the Dolphins, respectively. All eyes will be on both players in this game. Who will win? Right now the odds are pointing to Tom Brady and the Patriots as they are favored by 3 points, but it’s anyone’s game. The team with the most fight and resilience will win, and skyrocket their team to the Super Bowl.
