Top NFL Betting Picks for This Weekend: Week 6 of the Season

Written by on October 16, 2020

More and more COVID-19 cases are popping up around the NFL as we enter the weekend, although the news of false positives in Indianapolis has Colts fans and sports betting enthusiasts relieved for their matchup. If you haven’t locked in wagers for Week 6 in the NFL yet, let’s take a look at some of the best lines out there for you to take advantage of.

NFL News: Top Betting Picks for This Weekend

Denver at New England

Cam Newton has come off the COVID-19 list and is ready to lead the Patriot offense again. New England almost beat Seattle on the road and looked strong in the first half against Kansas City despite having Brian Hoyer and Jarrett Stidham as their only quarterback options. Now Denver comes in with an unstable quarterback situation; even though they beat the Jets on the road, Denver does not have the personnel to deal with a Bill Belichick-coached team. The Patriots’ defense will dominate this game. Take the Patriots in this game to cover before the line goes up even more.

Kansas City at Buffalo

It’s hard to imagine Kansas City losing two games in a row — and it’s hard to imagine Buffalo getting blown out at home at this point. We’ve already seen the Bills get run off their own field by Tennessee, on Tuesday, and now the Bills come back off a short week to face the defending champions. The Bills have some injuries in their secondary and linebacking corps, so there should be some opportunities for the Kansas City offense. What needs to improve for the Chiefs, though, is their defense, as they gave up way too many shots down the field in their home loss to Las Vegas last week. Kansas City has proven great at making adjustments under Andy Reid, and so I’m taking the Chiefs to win and cover on the road.

Houston at Tennessee

It’s interesting that the books view this as a virtually even matchup (with Tennessee getting the three points as a favorite that a home team would get) even though the Texans come in at 1-4, while the Titans are 4-0 and just blew out Buffalo on the road. The Texans let off a lot of steam in their win over Jacksonville — their first game after the firing of head coach/GM Bill O’Brien — but the Titans look to have things going strong on both sides of the ball. Tailback Derrick Henry has not slowed down one bit from his playoff run a year ago, and quarterback Ryan Tannehill is still slicing and dicing opposing defenses. I like Tennessee to win and cover here.

Chicago at Carolina

This line has shifted a bit since the week opened, moving more toward Carolina as a favorite. Even without Christian McCaffrey, the Panthers’ offense has been sizzling with the ball, and their defense has stood tough. Each week under new head coach Matt Rhule, the team has looked better. Chicago has a suffocating defense and an opportunistic offense behind Nick Foles, but the Panthers have the scheme and the people here. I like the Panthers to win and cover.

Arizona at Dallas

Dallas no longer has Dak Prescott at quarterback; backup Andy Dalton now has the reins for the rest of the season. Dalton showed a lot during his time against the Giants last week, and the Cardinals will give up some big plays as well. However, the problem for the Cowboys is their defense, as they allowed 34 points to a Giants team that had averaged 12 points a game coming in. The Cardinals’ offense has more talented personnel, and I expect them to take advantage. I like Arizona to win and cover on the road.
