Top College Football Week 10 SU Picks

Air Force at Army (-3), Saturday, November 5, 12:00 PM ET

NCAA Football SU Pick: Air Force

Even if Air Force QB Nate Romine won’t be available this week after suffering a leg injury in Week 9, backup quarterback Arion Worthman—who ran the ball 20 times for 100 yards and two scores to rally the Falcons to a 31-21 road win against Fresno State last week—should inspire confidence as the visitors seek a road win at Army this week. It’s not just that Worthman is a worthy backup; it is also that he will be getting support from a solid running game that features tail backs that have accumulated over 1,800 yards rushing and 20-plus touchdowns this season. The Black Knights can, without doubt, hold their own just as good using their second-ranked rushing attack in the nation, led by quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw. The difference here, though, will be that the Falcons have a better front seven, and that should allow them to outlast Army in a close win.

Oklahoma State at Kansas State (-3), Saturday, November 05, 3:30 PM ET

NCAA Football SU Pick: Cowboys

In spite of gaining just 49 yards on 27 carries when these two teams met last season, Oklahoma State c win over Kansas State. With more experience under his belt and great momentum heading into this week’s game against K-State, Rudolph should be even in a better position to lead the Cowboys to another win. Not only do the streaking Cowboys—who’ve won their last four game in a row– have their ground game in check, but Rudolph is balling like crazy, averaging 309 passing yards to go along with 10 touchdowns and zero interceptions in the current four-game streak. Against Kansas State’s feeble passing game that ranks #101 nationally in yards per pass attempt and is giving up 260 passing yards a game, Rudolph and his dependable receivers should be due for a big game. This should be additionally encouraged by the fact that Kansas State’s QB Jesse Ertz is more of a game-manager than a solid passer, which should give the Cowboys a bit of some relief in defense.

Alabama (-7) at LSU, Saturday, November 05, 8:00 PM ET

NCAA Football SU Pick: Alabama

Sometimes, it’s easy to take Alabama for granted given the manner in which they tend to win games so effortlessly. But that’s why Nick Saban is the greatest coach in the nation and Alabama will always be the team to beat. Obviously, playing a rejuvenated Leonard Fournette and his up-trending LSU team in Baton Rouge won’t be easy. Still, this is an Alabama team that has won 12 straight games against ranked opponents dating back to last season using equal parts of great offense and defense to take down opponents. And after Saban designed a perfect game plan that condemned Fournette to a career-worst performance last season in a 30-16 win by Alabama, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Fournette and his gang receive a similar treatment this weekend.

Pittsburgh at Miami (-3), Saturday, November 05, 12:30 PM ET

NCAA Football SU Pick: Miami

The Hurricanes are coming into this game on a slump, but could be due for redemption if they can exploit the Panthers’ weaknesses this weekend. For one, Brad Kaaya, who’s recently been troubled in his game due to poor protection, is likely to get a break against Pittsburgh’s poor passing defense that ranks close to last in NCAA Football at allowing 312.3 passing yards per game to go along with 32.4 points allowed per game. Last week, for example, Virginia Tech’s quarterback, Jerod Evans, managed to throw for 406 yards and two touchdowns against the Panthers. With Kaaya being a more refined passer, a better effort could easily be in the books for him. As for the challenging nature of going against Pittsburgh’s decent scoring offense that is putting up 38.1 points per game, Miami should be more than capable of countering with their absolutely solid defense that is allowing just 13.2 points per game at home this year. If the Canes allowed the likes of Florida State and North Carolina to put up just 20, then limiting the Panthers should be no different, hence giving Miami an all-rounded balance for a rather easy win over Pittsburgh.
