LSU at Arkansas Week 11 Betting Pick & Prediction

Why Bet on LSU?

Despite putting a valiant effort last week and holding the #1-ranked Crimson Tide scoreless through the first three quarters, the Tigers still ended on the losing side come full time, falling 10-0 to Bama. LSU had a near-perfect show on defense, matching Alabama play for play, but they unfortunately couldn’t get anything going in the offense, where they were held to a measly 125 total yards, including 92 passing yards and interception from quarterback Danny Etling and just 35 rushing yards from star running back Leonard Fournette. Things should be different, though, for the Tiger offense this weekend, as the Razorbacks’ defense (31.38 PPG allowed) is nothing remotely close to the Bama buzzsaw. Be particularly on lookout for a big game from Fournette and LSU’s ball-carriers who will be having a favorable matchup against Arkansas porous run defense that is giving up 221.75 rushing yards per game this season. And, of course, it should be business as usual for LSU’s mean scoring defense that ranks sixth-best in the nation with just 14.4 PPG allowed this year.

Why Bet on Arkansas?

After getting battered by the Auburn Tigers barely three weeks ago, the Razorbacks cleaned up nicely and bounced back with a 31-10 victory over Florida to become bowl-eligible. It was a complete performance for the Hogs on both sides of the line of scrimmage, as they held Florida to 241 total yards of offense while Arkansas’ offense collected 466 total yards of offense (223 rushing, 243 passing) in a solid day of work. It won’t be easy limiting an angry Fournette and LSU for similar numbers this week, but the underrated Razorbacks have shown solid value when playing at home. The 45-24 loss to then-#10 Texas A&M and the 49-30 loss to then-#1 Alabama are Arkansas’ only two home defeats so far this season, and that’s nothing to be ashamed about considering the quality of these two teams. More than that, their home wins so far have been damn impressive victories, including a 41-38 win over #15 TCU, 34-30 win over #12 Ole Miss and last week’s 21-point win over #11 Florida. On the account of such, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Hogs turn the tables on LSU this week.

My Betting Predictions and Picks

The Tigers have been playing really well since their interim coach took over, and their resilience and dedication was evident in the respectable losing effort to Alabama. Bouncing back in a big way in this winnable game against Arkansas should therefore be within the realms of strong possibility. That said, the Hogs are a different kind of animal when playing at home, and I wouldn’t put anything past them just because LSU will be fired up. So, while I am siding slightly with LSU for the win, I strongly feel that the best betting value will be on the Razorbacks in beating the number. I mean, besides their proven potential at home this season, the Hogs are 5-5 SU and remarkably 8-2 ATS in their last 10 overall games against the Tigers, including an 8-1 ATS mark in their last 9 overall games against LSU. If that doesn’t translate to sweet betting value, then I donno what else will. Final Score Prediction: LSU 27, Arkansas 24 Writer’s NCAA Football Picks: Arkansas (+7), OVER 46
