NASCAR heads to the “Tricky Triangle” this weekend for the Xfinity Series and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series races, including Sunday’s 2019 Pocono 400. The track here is triangular and runs 2 ½ miles, unique to the sport. The long straightaways are where drivers make their bread and butter, but Turn 2 is a challenge, as is finding the right pace to the entrance of Turn 3. There is also a new rules package coming in, with increased downforce and decreased horsepower, so on a track that features three different turns, it will be interesting to see how cars and drivers respond. Martin Truex Jr

won last week and has now won three of the last five races. However, he has never put together consecutive wins during his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series career. I’m still going to add him, though, because he won this event last year and has two Pocono 400 titles in the last four years. In his last four Pocono 400 appearances, he has an average finish of 6.75. In his last eight appearances at this track, he has four top-six finishes.

Kurt Busch

fell off the table last week, having easily his most disappointing race of 2019. However, the last time he slid out of the top 20, the next week, he finished third at the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500. He won the Pocono 400 three years ago, and he has four top-five finishes in his last five starts t this race — and he also came in second back in 2011. So he has the track record as far as bouncing back from poor races, and he also has tamed the “Tricky Triangle” before.

Ryan Blaney

is a dark horse worth considering. He has four consecutive finishes outside the top ten, but he is the 2017 champion of this race, and in three starts at the Pocono 400, his average finish is 5.6. He only has four full racing years in his career, and this has been a place where he has shown considerable stability. He also won on this track in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Kevin Harvick

is right behind Kyle Busch once again on the odds sheet, despite the fact that he is still looking for his first victory in 2019. He also has never won at the “Tricky Triangle,” but he has five straight top-four finishes on this track and has four runner-up results at Pocono overall. Eventually, he will crash through and get that win, and you want to have him on your wager card when he does.

Brad Keselowski

has three finishes outside the top ten in his last four races, and last week was disappointing. However, at the Pocono 400, he is averaging a finish of 4.3 over his last three starts and has five top-five finishes in his last six races at Pocono Raceway. He has only won one time at the “Tricky Triangle” in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, but he has too much history to leave him off right now.
