If you’re new to Formula E and sports betting, Formula E is similar to Formula 1, except that the series uses electric cars. The circuit dates back to 2014 and has had FIA World Championship status since 2020. The cars are single-seat and have a style similar to Formula 1 cars, and the circuits generally run between 1.2 and 2.1 miles in length. Each car has the same chassis and battery, which means that the outcome has more to do with driver skill than with variance among the cars, which is a major factor in Formula 1. On Saturday, the city of Hyderabad, India, will host the first Formula E race in India. Let’s take a look at the Formula E betting odds for each driver and an overview of the race.

Mahindra Racing is the home team for this event, and Lucas di Grassi, who won the season championship in 2016-17, and Oliver Rowland, drive for that team. Di Grassi already has a podium finish from the season opener in Mexico City, and he has nine podium finishes in Asia for Formula E, more than any other driver.
Two other teams will fight Mahindra Racing for the win: Avalanche Andretti and Heuer Porsche. Andretti’s Jake Dennis won the season opener in Mexico City with the 99X Electric Gen3, and Pascal Wehrlein took second. Wehrlein turned the tables in the second and third races, winning both of them to vault to the top of the driver standings after a double win in Saudi Arabia. However, Andretti still leads the team standings by two points. It helped that Wehrlein qualified ninth and fifth for those two races, which made it easier for him to work his way to the front. The way he and Dennis are driving right now, it looks like it will be hard for anyone else to take one of the top two slots.
Jake Hughes did qualify for a pole position in the third race, and he has grabbed points in each of the first three races of the season. He has the best record in qualifying of any of the grid drivers. As he builds experience, he will learn how to turn those starting positions into wins. His NEOM McLaren teammate, Rene Rast, took the first podium finish for the team in the third race.
Jaguar TCS Racing got a podium finish out of Sam Bird in the second race of the season – as Bird had gone through a drought of over 100 races without a top-three slot. Bird has four wins in Asia, more than any other drier on the grid. Two came in Diriyah, one in Hong Kong and one in Malaysia. Bird finished fourth in the third race, showing strength in energy management. Even though the Porsches have quickness, the GEN3 development process has meant that all teams are seeing the performance jump significantly.
There was some concern that the GEN3 car would make overtaking difficult; the braking zones have been shortened because of the large regen boost that comes with the new double powertrain. Even so, at Diriyah, there were 36 passing moves undertaken outside of attack mode position changes in the two races. In the second race, Wehrlein moved from ninth at the start to first, and Dennis improved from 11th in the grid to second overall. This was the first time consecutive races in Formula E had been won by a driver outside the top four in the grid since Zurich and New York City five seasons ago.
