2019 STP 500 Odds & Betting Preview

Can Kyle Busch make it three wins in a row? As the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series moves from Auto Club Speedway’s two-mile track to the half-mile track at Martinsville for the 2019 STP 500, Busch remains the favorite at +220. Grabbing the pole is no guarantee of winning on this track, as eight of the last 11 runners have finished fifth or worse in qualification. Clint Bowyer comes in as the defending champion at Martinsville, winning the spring race here in 2018. We have your driver odds and NASCAR betting suggestions. Kyle Busch

He has to be on your cards again, even if the odds of a three-peat are small. Busch has averaged a finish of 2.6 over the short season and has not finished worse than sixth in his last seven starts. He won here three years ago and has been the runner-up in 2017 and 2018. In his last seven races at the Martinsville Speedway, his worst finish has been fifth. So despite the relative lack of value, there’s a time when the favorite is the favorite for a reason, and this is one of those times.

Clint Bowyer

Bowyer is a solid dark horse candidate as the defending champion and with nine top-10 finishes in his last 11 races at the STP 500. At this track, he has eight top-ten finishes in his last 13 starts. The value on his moneyline is at odds (no pun intended) with his history at the Martinsville Speedway and at this particular event, so take advantage by adding him to your wager card.

Chase Elliott

Elliot is another driver with big moneyline value despite consistently solid performances at the Martinsville Speedway. He has only cracked the top ten once this year, but he has three top-ten finishes in his last four races here. At the STP 500, he has averaged a sixth place result in his last two starts. He also won here and took a runner-up finish racing here as part of the Camping World Truck Series, so he could end up grabbing that checkered flag as well.

Denny Hamlin

Hamlin won the Daytona 500 and has continued to race well since then, averaging a finish of 6.8 over five races on the 2019 season. He has won the STP 500 three times, most recently back in 2015. Only Rusty Wallace, Darrell Waltrip and Richard Petty have more wins here than Hamlin, who has two additional wins here as part of the Camping World Truck Series. This would make the first time that Hamlin has won twice in the first six races of the season in his career, but his solid consistency lately makes him an intriguing pick this week.

Brad Keselowski

He has finished no worse than third in three of his last four races, and the Martinsville Speedway has been a great place for him historically. He won the STP 500 in 2017 and has four top-six finishes in his last six STP 500 appearances. He has six top-five finishes in his last eight races at this track. He doesn’t offer as much value as some of the other drivers, but he has the track record to earn serious consideration.
