The NASCAR Cup Series is racing at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday afternoon, with the GEICO 500 set to start at 3:00 pm Eastern time, with the broadcast on FOX. Kyle Busch won the Food City Dirt Race at Bristol Motor Speedway last Sunday, taking advantage of a late crash between second-place Chase Briscoe and leader Ty Reddick. Briscoe slid along the dirt track, up the bank, into Reddick, and both drivers went sideways. Busch, a distant third place, zoomed past both of them and beat Reddick by 0.330 seconds. That gave Busch the 60th win of his career and the first of 2022. What will happen in Talladega? Check out our NASCAR betting odds for each driver as well as our wager card suggestions.

Martin Truex Jr is unusually far down the odds list this week because, when it comes to plate racing, Truex is either just horrendous or very unlucky. His car is terrific, and he has a great team…and he is an elite driver. So now he needs some luck, and he’s worth the value pick here. This is another plate race, this time on a road course that is getting added to the circuit, so taking a flyer on this value makes sense.
Tyler Reddick has finished in the top seven in three of the last six plate races. He has raced in 10 plate events overall in the Cup Series, but he started poorly, with only three of those finishes in the top 20. So Reddick has heated up in more recent plate events.
Chase Briscoe has raced in five plate events, and his average finish is 15th, which ranks him sixth best in this field. However, he might be a little too considerate a driver for the plate event because of the sheer nerves and boldness that success in this environment requires.
Chase Elliott used to dominate Talladega, but in the last four races here, he has an average finish of 26th and a best finish of 18th, so at this moneyline, he might not be the best choice.
Ryan Blaney is one of the best racers at Talladega in the Cup Series. In the last five races here, he has a pair of wins, including a victory last summer. He almost won two others in the last five but had some bad luck down the stretch, turning late leads into losses.
Denny Hamlinis one of the top plate racers of all time, and at Talladega, he has finished in the top five four times in his last seven. His other results: 7th, 32nd and 36th.
Bubba Wallace has been a decent plate racer, and he won the last race here. However, in the seven starts at Talladega that he made prior to that win, his average finish was 22nd, so to win here again would be a definite outlier.
Brad Keselowski understands that if he is going to win again, it will take place at a plate event. This caused him to drive extremely aggressively at the Daytona 500 this year. He wrecked, and he caused a few other wrecks before that because of his tactics. So while Keselowski might win the whole thing, he also has a high chance of wrecking.
