Ready for another NASCAR Betting Weekend? On Sunday, Joe Gibbs Racing took the first two stages of The Great American Getaway 400 at Pocono Raceway, but Ryan Blaney of Team Penske swooped in to win the race.
This was his second win of the season, and he took the lead when Kyle Larson got flagged for excessive speed on pit road with 44 laps to go, and Blaney held the lead for the last 44 laps.
Denny Hamlin, looking for his eighth win at Pocono Raceway, finished second, 1.312 seconds behind Blaney.
The rest of the top five included Alex Bowman, William Byron and Joey Logano.
This week, NASCAR heads to Indianapolis Motor Speedway, with the Brickyard 400 set for 2:30 pm Eastern time on Sunday. NBC will broadcast the race.

Bet on the Cup Series Brickyard 400 Odds
Denny Hamlin
Hamlin had the speed to get the win at Pocono. However, Blaney bested him with strategy – and Hamlin is usually a wizard when it comes to strategy. Hamlin did test at Indy earlier in 2024, and he’s got plenty of motivation. I wouldn’t bet heavy on him until you see how he comes out of practice before the race.

Blaney could pull off the repeat, as there are a lot of similarities between The Tricky Triangle at Pocono and Indy. Turn 2 at Pocono, called the Tunnel Turn, is very similar to one of the turns at Indy, and the same strategies that bring speed at one bring speed at the other.
^Martin Truex Jr
Truex Jr had the top car at Pocono through practice and Stage 1. Over the course of the race, though, the track altered a bit, and his team didn’t adjust. The Tricky Triangle has straightaways that you must master to win, and he said his car lacked speed on those. Indy also has lengthy straightaways.

Kyle Larson never slowed down this week, going to Attica and then the El Dora Speedway for Wednesday and Thursday. Will fatigue catch up with him, or will he stay fresh?

Larson plummeted from fourth to 21st after getting that speeding penalties. Elliott has the lowest rate of speeding penalties among all the Cup Series drivers, so this is the equivalent of your elderly aunt coming home with a ticket. Look for him to have his strategy locked down tight this week.
^Christopher Bell
Bell doesn’t have a lot of experience at Indy. He’ll have plenty of speed, but winning at Indy requires savvy with restarts and strategy, and he may still be too far toward the start of the learning curve.
^William Byron
Byron had a top-five finish at Pocono, but his Chevy isn’t running that well. After the race on Sunday, he had issues with his car’s speed.
^Joey Logano
Logano was just one of several fast drivers with Team Penske last weekend. Yes, Logano kind of lucked into his win at Nashville, but his speed that showed up Sunday is likely to show up again at Indy.
^Alex Bowman
Bowman is a consistent racer. His Chevy is not the fastest car out there, but he consistently produces, week in and week out.
