2024 Food City 500 Odds, Betting Picks for NASCAR Cup Series

NASCAR comes back east to Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee this week, with the Cup Series running the Food City 500 on Sunday afternoon. The action begins at 3:30 pm Eastern time, and you can watch the telecast on FOX or listen on PRN or SiriusXM. Last week, Christopher Bell raced to victory at the Shiners Children’s 500. Several factors contributed to his win, such as the new short-track competition package that NASCAR debut on Sunday, the new body style that Toyota introduced. Toyota drivers had only led 15 total laps in four Next-Gen era races at Phoenix before Sunday, but these changes helped make the difference. Bell and his fellow Toyota drivers led 298 of a possible 312 laps. The dirty air made life hard for some of the drivers, but Bell’s No. 20 came up from 20th after a Lap 221 restart to take the lead and blow away second-place driver Chris Buescher by a whopping 5.465 seconds. Bell made it to the Championship 4 at Phoenix last year, but an exploding brake rotor ended his chances at a NASCAR Cup Series championship. Going into this weekend’s race, check out the NASCAR betting odds for each driver and our wager card suggestions.

Bet on the NASCAR Lines for Food City 500

Kyle Larson

Larson loves running at Bristol. It’s a short, concrete track with steep banking, which challenges a lot of drivers. Larson won here in 2021 and has led a total of 870 laps in 15 races here. He has five top-five finishes and ten top-tens.

Denny Hamlin

Hamlin will benefit from the use of the intermediate-track package from 2023 this week – and Hamlin won here in that 2023 race. Not only did Hamlin win, but he blew by a number of other cars inside the top ten to get that victory.

Christopher Bell

Bell simply blew the competition away last week and has done well at Bristol since 2016, when he made his Truck Series debut here. He has led a total of 101 laps here in his career, but he is still looking for his first Cup Series win at the Last Great Colosseum. In 2022, he led 143 laps, and he led 187 a year ago, so he’s not far away from that first win in the top series.

Chris Buescher

Buescher has always run well at Bristol even when he was racing with average equipment. Brad Keselowski’s move to Roush has led to better equipment, as we saw when Buescher won here two years ago and cracked the top five in 2023.

Brad Keselowski

Keselowski doesn’t have a win with Roush, but he has a solid car and elite driving skills. Last fall, he was the only driver who could zip through the field here, and he’s an interesting value pick.

Ty Gibbs

Gibbs came in fifth at the fall Bristol race last year and had a top-five driver rating at both Las Vegas and Phoenix. He’s part of the next generation of elite Cup Series drivers, and he will start to pick up more wins.

Tyler Reddick

Reddick chose to pit at the Stage 2 race here in 2023, while other teams chose to keep going, turning his likely top-five finish into a top-15 result. He drives a 23XI Toyota, a car that showed speed here last year and has speed in 2024.

2023 Food City 500 Betting Analysis

Last week, NASCAR was at the Richmond Raceway, where Kyle Larson won the Toyota Owners 400 as part of Cup Series action. Larson benefited from a speedy final pit stop, holding off the rest of the field over the last 25 laps to win his first Cup Series race of 2023. He had to outmaneuver teammate Josh Berry on two restarts in the last few laps to nail down the win on the year’s first short-track event. Berry came in second, 1.535 seconds behind Larson. Ross Chastain, Christopher Bell and Kevin Harvick made up the rest of the top five. This week, the Cup Series runs on Sunday with the Food City Dirt Race at Bristol Motor Speedway, which became a dirt race in the spring back in 2021. Joey Logano won the first race on the dirt here, and Kyle Busch won here a year ago. The race starts at 7:00 pm Eastern, and you can watch live on FOX or listen on PRN or SiriusXM. Why is

Kyle Larson

favored to win? He has the best history on dirt tracks, and he is driving the fastest Gen 7 stock car this year.

Tyler Reddick

should have won here on the dirt last year, but Chase Briscoe wrecked him on the final lap. Even so, Reddick gathered himself and finished second.

Christopher Bell

had a solid race of his own at the 2022 dirt race at Bristol, and his dirt racing skills are right there with the others at the top of the odds list.

Chase Briscoe

took a huge risk in the last turn here last year. He was looking to move up from second to first, but he ran into the leader (Reddick). Reddick still took second, but Briscoe ended up outside the top 20.

William Byron

has been a terrific driver on short tracks this weekend, and as the race goes by, the “dirt” at Bristol will turn into a short track that is slow and slippery. Byron is driving in two races this weekend, so he’ll have extra experience on the surface by Sunday.

Ryan Blaney

started the dirt race here last year in 25th and worked his way all the way up to fifth. He also has dirt racing in his genes, as his father and grandfather were legendary on the surface and his family still owns a dirt racetrack.

Joey Logano

is also running in two races this time around. He might not be the best driver on dirt, but he has completed more laps on the dirt than anyone else at Bristol. He won here in 2021 and came in third last year.

Kyle Busch

lucked into the win last year, but you have to get yourself to the right place at the right time to win. Bristol has altered its track several times over the last 20 years, and Busch has won on every layout.

Alex Bowman

has become a dirt racing aficionado, running at the Shootout and the Chili Bowl in Tulsa the last few years. He has a fast Hendrick Chevy that will help him as well.
