2024 GEICO 500 Odds, Betting Picks for NASCAR Cup Series

On Sunday, Chase Elliott finally broke a 42-race winless streak at Texas Motor Speedway, taking the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400 in double overtime. The last time Elliott won a race came in a playoff win at Talladega Superspeedway in October 2022. There were three restarts late in the race, including two in overtime, but Elliott overcame the chaos to get his first NASCAR Cup Series win at Texas Motor Speedway. Brad Keselowski turned back the clock and charged hard at the end but had to settle for second place in a race that lasted almost four hours and featured 16 caution periods, a TMS record. This week, NASCAR heads to Talladega, and the GEICO 500 is the Cup Series event, set for Sunday at 3:00 pm Eastern time. FOX will carry the telecast, and Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM will have the radio call. Read on to get each driver’s sports betting odds to win and our wager card suggestions.

Bet on the NASCAR Lines for GEICO 500

This is the third superspeedway race of 2024. Who won the first two, at Daytona and Atlanta? William Byron did. He’s never won at Talladega, but he came in third here last fall.

Ryan Blaney

Blaney is the best superspeedway driver in the Cup Series when you look at the stats. The same holds true for driving at Talladega. He won here last fall, and that was his third win at this plate track since 2019. In the last three Talladega events, he also has a pair of runner-up finishes.

Denny Hamlin

Hamlin has comparable superspeedway statistics for his career to Blaney’s, although Hamlin’s better results are in the more distant past. He has not won a drafting race in two years.

Bubba Wallace

Wallace has always excelled on the superspeedways. Daytona has been the best plate track for him, but Wallace’s first Cup Series victory came in 2021 at Talladega.

Chase Elliott

Elliott just ended a 42-race winless streak, so picking him again seems like expecting lightning to get caught in a bottle two straight weeks. However, Elliott is a streaky performer, and when he gets hot, he wins a bunch. He has two career wins at Talladega already – including the aforementioned win back in the fall of 2022.

Todd Gilliland

Gilliland doesn’t usually appear in our picks, but at Talladega, he has three straight top-15 finishes, and two of those actually saw him climb into the top ten. He drives for Front Row Motorsports, and they have always put together strong cars for superspeedways.

Corey LaJoie

LaJoie is another driver we don’t usually feature. LaJoie stacks up fantasy points at superspeedways, so if you’re looking to play that angle, LaJoie is an interesting pick.

Erik Jones

Jones has cracked the top ten six times in the last eight races at Talladega, with most of that success coming after his departure from Joe Gibbs Racing.

Chase Briscoe

Briscoe has five top-15 finishes in six Cup Series races at Talladega. At the other superspeedways he’s seen this year, Atlanta and Daytona, his results haven’t been as solid. Is there something special about him racing here?

Joey Logano

Logano has failed to finish better than 25th in four straight Talladega superspeedway races. He hasn’t won here since 2018 – but he did have a three-race winning streak at Talladega between 2015 and 2018.

2023 GEICO 500 Odds

Kyle Larson picked up his second Cup Series victory last Sunday in the NOCO 400 at Martinsville Speedway. It was his first career win at this half-mile track, and he won in dominant fashion, beating Joey Logano by an eye-popping 4.142 seconds. Logano did well just to finish second since he had to start at the back of the field after making an adjustment to his car after qualifying. Along with teammate William Byron, Larson is just one of two drivers to win more than one race in 2023. This Sunday, NASCAR will wrap up its weekend at Talladega Superspeedway with the GEICO 500, set to start at 3:00 pm Eastern time. FOX will have the telecast, or you can listen on the Motor Racing Network or the SiriusXM app. We have the NASCAR betting odds for each driver to win the race as well as wager card suggestions.

Ryan Blaney

is a co-favorite for a reason; he has an average finish of 15th in his last 33 races at superspeedways (Talladega, Atlanta and Daytona), the best average finish in the Cup Series. He has won twice at Talladega and once at Daytona during that run.

Denny Hamlin

is right behind Blaney, second-best in average finish over the last 33 events at superspeedways. He’s also got the second-best average finish in the last 15 events at Talladega.

Aric Almirola

cracked the top ten eight straight times at Talladega between 2016 and 2020, including a victory in 2018. Since 2015, he has the best average finish at this track, even though he has tailed off in recent years.

Austin Cindric

has the best average finish at plate-racing tracks – 15th. Even though his sample size is significantly smaller than that of his peers, he has won at Daytona in the Xfinity Series and in the Daytona 500. His team (Penske) tends to excel at superspeedways.

Joey Logano

won at Atlanta in the spring race, and he has 11 top-five finishes in the last 30 events at Talladega and Daytona, with multiple victories.

Chase Elliott

broke into the top ten at Martinsville in his first race after coming back from injury. In the last eight Talladega races, Elliott has won two of them.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr

won the Daytona 500 this year and has three total Cup Series wins on superspeedways. In pack racing, he has a 23% rate for finishing in the top five, which ranks third-best for the last 33 races on plate tracks.

Bubba Wallace

has made a reputation for surviving the chaos on superspeedway races. He has 25 races on plate tracks (Atlanta, Daytona and Talladega, and he has finished in the top 20 in 84% of those (21).

Ross Chastain

was the runner-up in both races in Atlanta last year, and he also won the spring Talladega race last year. He also has a Talladega victory in the Xfinity Series back in 2019.

Erik Jones

has five top-ten finishes in the last six Talladega races, including top-ten finishes in three straight.

Michael McDowell

has a win in the Daytona 500 and has finished in the top five in three of the last seven races at Talladega.

Kyle Larson

has wins on every type of NASCAR track except for a plate track. He had never done well at Martinsville – but he won there last week. He did win a plate race at Daytona in 2018 in the Xfinity Series, but he’s still looking for his first plate track win in the Cup Series.
