On February 3, Denny Hamlin won his fourth Cup Series-opening exhibition race when he beat Kyle Busch by 0.610 seconds to win the Busch Light Clash at The Coliseum. He took the lead on Lap 141 (of 150), and he was within reach of the finish line when teammate Ty Gibbs went into a spin, prompting the seventh caution of the race and necessitating a two-lap shootout. On the last restart, Hamlin was able to hold Busch off. The race actually happened a day earlier than planned, an historic move for NASCAR, due to the forecast of heavy rains in Los Angeles starting on the 4th. Now the regular season begins in Daytona 500 as the 500 looms on Sunday. FOX will have the telecast, and the race will get underway at 2:30 pm Eastern time. You can also listen on Motor Racing Network or SiriusXM. We have the NASCAR betting odds for each driver in the field as well as our outstanding wager card suggestions.

Bet on the NASCAR Lines! for Daytona 500
Ryan Blaney has four wins on superspeedways, including a win in NASCAR’s last event at this type of venue. He was involved in a major crash at the Duels on Thursday, but he has the speed to make up for his starting position – and the use of a backup car.
Kyle Busch is still looking for his first Daytona 500 win in his 19th start. It looked like he would end that drought last year, as he was in the lead on Lap 200, but then the race went into overtime and he crashed, ending his day. He was also part of the same mess that ended Blaney’s day on Thursday. Is Busch due?
Kyle Larson is also due a better result on a superspeedway. He was in the lead at one of the Duels on Thursday until Tyler Reddick zipped past him in the last lap to get the win. Larson didn’t drive that aggressively, but we expect him to take a different approach on Sunday, and his car looks like it has the speed to work its way to the front. He also might be the best pure driver in the entire sport, not just stock car racing.
Bubba Wallace leads all active Cup Series drivers with a 12.9 average career finish at Daytona. He’s driving a Toyota, and that car showed big speed as Tyler Reddick and Christopher Bell swept Thursday’s Duels. Wallace is starting in the back half of Sunday’s field, which adds to his value, but he has the speed and the history to make him a smart pick.
Austin Dillon already has a Daytona 500 trophy on his mantel, but he’s offering a ton of value. He was near the front at the end of the 500 last year, and he was in the front for much of Thursday before a crash claimed him in the first Duel. Two of his four career wins have come in Daytona.
Riley Herbst finished in the top ten here a year ago, and he was an early leader in his Duel before he got sucked into a crash. He looks solid in the Gen-7 car, and he will only have four cars behind him when he starts, so look for him to maneuver his way forward. Can he get all the way to the front? He’s definitely a dark horse.

Bubba Wallace has started at Daytona 11 times and has cracked the top 17 10 times, nearly winning several of them. Why? Because Daytona features a major crash about half the time, and Wallace has avoided the chaos. That makes him worth the value pick here.
Ryan Blaney has been extremely fortunate at plate tracks, getting in the top ten regularly and winning more often than he probably should. When you have that kind of luck, that’s worth a wager.
Austin Dillon has been a terrific racer on plate tracks in all three NASCAR series. He has won at the Daytona 500 and won here in the summer last year as well. In the last 31 plate races, he has 21 top-20 finishes, more than any other driver.
Ross Chastain was the runner-up in Atlanta twice, and while Atlanta doesn’t have a pure plate track, it is close enough to make Chastain an interesting pick.
Austin Cindric won this race last year and finished third in the summer event. Team Penske seems to have plate-track racing down.
Denny Hamlin came in 25th as his best finish at Daytona in 2022. However, he has won here five times, with an average finish of 17th, second-best in this field.
Joey Logano won the Cup Series last year, and Logano is one of the top superspeedway racers – and he also is on Team Penske.
Martin Truex Jr finally figured out plate racing last year. Instead of wrecking once again, he had five top-15 finishes in the six superspeedway races.
Justin Haley has only raced 13 times on plate tracks in the Cup Series, but he has the fourth-best average finish at plate tracks in this field. In the Xfinity Series, he won four races on plate tracks.
Chase Elliott has never won at Daytona in the Cup Series. He has won at Talladega (another superspeedway), and he gets to try the track out by running in the Craftsman Truck Series on Friday night.
Kevin Harvick has run in 31 plate track races with a 61% Top 20 finish rate. That is third in this field behind Austin Dillon (68%) and Denny Hamlin (65%).
Kyle Larson has an Xfinity Series win at Daytona, but he is still looking for his first plate track win in the Cup Series.
