NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoor Truck Series: Vankor 350 Preview

NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoor Truck Series: Vankor 350 Preview July 18

The eighth race of the 2020 season in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoor Truck Series is set for Saturday night, from Texas Motor Speedway. One new wrinkle for this weekend’s action has to do with the guidelines that the state of Texas has put in place for stadiums — allowing up to 50 percent of seating capacity to be filled. That should turn into quite the spectacle. On Saturday night, the truck series will have its turn, and Kyle Busch has already announced that he will race in all three races (including the Xfinity Series and the Cup Series), so he will be the prohibitive favorite in the two lower divisions. We have the NASCAR Truck Series odds for your consideration as you think about where to put your money.

Kyle Busch is the defending champion of the Vankor 350. Overall, he has started nine races at Texas Motor Speedway as part of the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoor Truck Series, with four wins among nine top-five finishes. His average finish has been 10.2.

Johnny Sauter has the most wins in the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoor Truck Series at Texas Motor Speedway among active drivers, with five. He swept both races at TMS in the 2012 season and won three of four races from the fall of 2016 until the spring of 2018.

Matt Crafton was the 2019 NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoor Truck Series champion in 2019, and he has won twice at Texas Motor Speedway (in 2014 and 2015). He is riding an impressive 17-race streak of top-ten finishes, which includes four second-place finishes.

Austin Hill leads the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoor Truck Series in points by 46, despite the fact that he still has yet to win a race in 2020. He has two second-place finishes, at Pocono and Atlanta, and he finished fifth in a race cut short by rain in Kentucky last weekend. In seven starts at Texas Motor Speedway, he has two top-ten finishes and came in fifth for a career best at this track in 2018.

Ben Rhodes is third in the driver standings and is also looking for his first checkered flag in 2020. He has cracked the top ten five times in the seven races so far in the series. He finished as runner-up in 2018 at Texas Motor Speedway, but in his last eight races here, he has only made it into the top ten three times.

Tyler Ankrum has raced at Texas Motor Speedway twice in his career and finished in the top ten both times. Sheldon Creed won the NASCAR Gander RV & Outdoor Truck Series race a week ago at Kentucky Speedway. Stewart Friesen finished as the runner-up at Texas Motor Speedway in both 2018 and 2019 and is sitting at 14th place in the driver standings for 2020. His best finish here came at Pocono two races back, when he came in eighth.
