Kyle Busch finally got off the schneid a week ago and ended a long winless drought in the NASCAR Cup Series, when he raced to victory at the Buschy McBusch Race 400 at Kansas Speedway on Sunday. Now the Cup Series moves to Darlington Raceway for the Goodyear 400. The race will start at 3:30 pm Eastern time on Sunday, and you can catch the broadcast on FS1, with the radio call on Motor Racing Network, as Kevin Harvick looks to defend his 2020 win at this event.

Last week, Kyle Busch celebrated his birthday with a win at Kansas Speedway, taking the lead on a restart with just two laps left, and he won by 0.336 seconds. Now he has 58 NASCAR Cup Series wins. He also won the Camping World Truck Series event on Saturday night. Kyle Larson had led 132 of 267 laps, most of the race, but he got moved back to the second row on the last restart and ran into Ryan Blaney after the last green flag. The two cards bounced out of the groove, and Busch and Martin Truex pushed from behind. Kevin Harvick and Brad Keselowski took advantage of Truex’s older tires and took second and third.
Kyle Larson is the favorite here because of his records at Darlington Raceway. He has three top-three finishes in his last four races here, leading 497 laps in those four races (best in the field), and he will have plenty of motivation after having to settle for 19th place a week ago. At Darlington, he averages 35.3 fastest laps per race, tops in this field. He will start out of the 14th position on Sunday.
Kevin Harvick has eight top-ten finishes so far in 2021 and will start in the second position on Sunday. The spring race at Darlington is just entering its second edition, but Harvick won the first running a year ago. Harvick just ran out of laps a week ago, as his late charge came up just short.
Denny Hamlin came in 12th at Kansas a week ago, leading with 25 laps to go but then coming into contact with the wall. He won the fall race here a year ago and settled for fifth in the spring race. In that win, he only led a dozen laps, but he picked the right laps to lead. He will start in the seventh position on Sunday. He has the Cup Series points lead and the best GRID rating among these drivers, and so he is someone to consider almost every week. At Darlington, he has 13 top-ten results in 17 races overall.
Brad Keselowski will start on the pole this week, and he won at Darlington the last time it was a low downforce, high horsepower race, back in 2018. On low downforce tracks in 2020, in terms of top-five laps, Keselowski was the second best driver in the Cup Series.
Joey Logano was the top driver with high horsepower and low downforce a year ago, and his stats in 2021 show that trend continuing. He had 53 hog points at Bristol, 24 more at Martinsville and 27 at Richmond. At high downforce, his numbers have not been impressive, but that won’t be a factor at Darlington.
