Last week, Austin Hill came away from Las Vegas Motor Speedway with the win in the Xfinity Series Alsco Uniforms 300. Hill erased a three-second deficit behind Chandler Smith, who had won the pole, to take his second race in 2023 after winning at Daytona in the first week. This made Hill’s fourth career win in the Xfinity Seris and his first win in Vegas. Smith’s car tightened up in the last laps, and Hill and Justin Allgaier both passed him. Allgaier was catching Hill but just ran out of track, finishing 0.268 seconds out of first. Kyle Busch and Josh Berry rounded out the top five. This Saturday, Phoenix Raceway will host the United Rentals 200, and you can catch the broadcast on FS1 and the Motor Racing Network at 4:30 pm Eastern time. NASCAR News: Xfinity Series United Rentals 200 Preview
John Hunter Nemechek has driven in all three of the main NASCAR series but looks to drive primarily in the Xfinity Seris this year. He already has one win in 2023 and made the podium in the season opener at Daytona. He has regularly cracked the top five at Phoenix Raceway but is still looking for his first victory here.
Chandler Smith is just 20 years old and finished in third place in the Craftsman Truck Series in 2022. He did not make the top ten at Daytona in the season opener, but he came in third in Week 2 and 4th in Week 3, showing that he has found his way in the Xfinity Series. Think about taking him while he still offers a bit of betting value.
Austin Hill is red-hot so far in 2023, winning two of the first three races as he starts his second full season with the Xfinity Series. He finished sixth in the driver standings a year ago, but his start to 2023 shows that he is ready to do much better this season. He needed all of 2022 to get two wins. Last year, his two races at Phoenix Raceway only yielded one top-ten finish, but his increased confidence all the way around should pay dividends.
Ty Gibbs took the win last week in Las Vegas, running away from Noah Gragson to take the win. This week’s race will be his second start at Phoenix Raceway. In his debut in last year’s spring race, he finished second behind Austin Cindric, who is full-time in the Cup Series this year.
Justin Allgaier has made the podium in all three Xfinity Series races in 2023, so it’s only a matter of time until he stands at the top. Throughout his time in the Xfinity Series, he has shown all kinds of consistency, and that is the trend that leads to long-term success. He has a lot of experience at the Phoenix Raceway as well. He has started 23 races here in the Xfinity Series, leading 493 of 4,618 possible laps, and he has two wins, eight top-five finishes and 15 top-ten finishes. In 2022, he came in 8th and 9th in the two Phoenix races.
Noah Gragson also has three podium finishes in three Xfinity Series races this season, coming in second in the last two. He is the leader in the Xfinity Series points standings, 17 points ahead of Ty Gibbs. His speed has been consistent – but how about his track record at Phoenix RAceway? He has six starts here, with just one top-five and three top-ten finishes. He’s a co-favorite this week but with his record here, the lack of value makes him a less likely wager.
