Jorge Linares vs Vasiliy Lomachenko (12 round) (ESPN / ESPN Deportes)

Vasiliy Lomachenko (10-1, 8 KO) is the defending WBO junior lightweight title, and he moves up to take on Jorge Linares (44-3, 27 KO) for the WBA lightweight belt. This could be the premier boxing match of 2018. This bout is set for New York City’s Madison Square Garden, one of the most venerable boxing venues of all time. Lomachenko hails from Ukraine and is considered the best pound-for-bound fighter right now. He has two Olympic gold medals, and he became a world champion after just three pro fights. Each of his last four opponents have either quit the fight or had their corners end it for them. Guillermo Rigondeaux had to retire after the sixth round because of a hand injury. Lomachenko is not the hardest hitter, but he brings blow in volume and has considerable skill on the technical side. Thanks to his timing, he can deliver knockout blows. Linares is also a terrific fighter, with two wins over Anthony Crolla and Kevin Mitchell. He has won 13 fights in a row, most recently a unanimous decision win over Mercito Gesta. Linares also brings a technical approach ot the sport, not bringing bombs but instead attacking a punch at atime. This is his first big fight — can he hold onto his belt against Lomachenko? Sadam Ali vs Jaime Munguia (12 rounds) (HBO)

Jaime Munguia (28-0, 24 KO) steps in as a replacement challenger for Sadam Ali (26-1, 14 KO) in Ali’s WBO junior middleweight title defense. Munguia replaces Liam Smith, who had developed a skin condition that kept him out of training for over a week and had to withdraw. Munguia is one of the premier prospects in boxing and hails from Mexico. He had been offered the slot to replace Canelo Alvarez against Gennady Golovkin, but Munguia would have had to go up in weight and Golovkin is known as a devastating fighter, so the Nevada State Athletic Commission would not approve that matchup. Munguia faces Ali, who took the title back in December when he beat Puerto Rican boxing hero Miguel Cotto in a unanimous decision, sending Cotto off into retirement. This is his first defense of his title. Munguia brings power with his punches but still has work to do on the technical side, including his footwork. Ali also brings solid punching power but does a good job on the cards as well, using landed blows to build points over the course of the fight. Boxing Betting Prediction: Ali wins by decision

Kenya Enriquez vs Yokasta Valle (10 rounds) (beIN Sports Espanol)

Kenya Enriquez (20-1, 9 KO) makes her second defense of her WBC interim light flyweight belt, this time against Costa Rica’s Yokasta Valle (13-1, 6 KO). Both fighters are 24, and the defense bout takes place in Enriquez’s home town of Tijuana. Enriquez took the crown last year, when she defeated Maria Salinas via technical knockout on May 27. Six months later, she beat Jessica Nery Plata on the cards. Enriquez brings a considerable amount of punching power, but she will have her hands full with Valle, who has solid footwork and excellent cardio. I expect this fight to go to the cards, but one punch landed at the right time could end this fight much sooner. Boxing Betting Prediction: Enriquez wins by split decision
