Written by on June 9, 2020

eSports has become the focus of the sports betting world, and the pro eSports league for Call of Duty is The Call of Duty League. We are in Week 9 of the 2020 season, the Minnesota Home Series. This was originally scheduled for May 5 and 6, but the COVID-19 pandemic forced a postponement. After the tournament was moved online, the tournament was reset to June 12-14. Take a look at the matchups as well as our Call of Duty betting thoughts on Friday’s matchups.

Call of Duty League Matches Odds & Picks June 12

The teams are divided into two groups, each group playing through a double-elimination bracket. The two winners from each group bracket will advance to the semifinals. There is a new bracket each week. Each matchup is a best-of-five series. Once the teams get to the semifinals, it is single-elimination, also best-of-five. The teams are playing for a $100,000 prize pool split among the top four teams.

Week 9 Bracket

Group A

Round 1 (Friday, June 12)

Seattle Surge vs Atlanta FaZe (5:30 pm ET)

Despite the return of Ian “Enable” Wyatt to the Seattle Surge, the team still fell to the Atlanta FaZe in the semifinals at Chicago in Week 6. After a Week 7 bye, the Surge finished in eighth place (out of eight teams) in Week 8. It’s hard to pick them against an Atlanta team that took second in Week 6 and won the whole thing in Week 7 before taking a bye in Week 8.

  • Prediction: Atlanta FaZe wins

Minnesota RØKKR vs Dallas Empire (8:30 pm ET)

This is a much closer matchup, with the third- and fourth-place teams in the overall standings squaring off in Round 1. Minnesota has been sinking a bit, settling for fifth in Week 7 and then sixth in Week 8. Dallas last competed in Week 6, when they hoisted first prize. Will there be rust? Doubtful when there are video games concerned.

  • Prediction: Dallas Emipre wins

Group B

Round 1 (Friday, June 12)

Los Angeles Guerrillas vs Toronto Ultra (4:00 pm ET)

Two of the bottom-feeders meet here in Round 1. Los Angeles did pull off a surprise last week, jumping up to fifth place. However, Toronto did them even better the week before, turning in a third-place performance to take home some money. I like the Ultra to keep that hot streak going.

  • Prediction: Toronto Ultra wins

Chicago Huntsmen vs Florida Mutineers (7:00 pm ET)

The overall season leaders in Chicago prepare for the middle-of-the-pack Mutineers.  In Week 7, Florida came in seventh, while last week, the Chicago Huntsmen snagged first prize and the $50,000 prize winnings. Give me Chicago to start Week 9 off right.

  • b: Chicago Huntsmen wins
