eSports: Counter Strike Global Offensive – DreamHack Masters Matches for May 27
EuropeThere are four groups, each with four teams. Each match is played best-of-three, and the group winners advance to the Upper Bracket, while the second and third-place teams advance to the Lower Bracket. The two brackets combine in a double-elimination playoff format, with US$160,000 at stake.

May 27 matches
Natus Vincere (NaVi) (1.56) vs Team Vitality (2.34) (8:00 am ET)
These two teams have faced off five times, with Team Vitality winning three and NaVi winning the other two. NaVi won most recently, sweeping Team Vitality 2-0 in BLAST Premier Spring Series 2020’s regular season. NaVi has not won since May 6, when they beat pro100 in the ESL One: Road to Rio competition. Team Vitality has won three of their last five, all in ESL One: Road to Rio, although they lost their most recent match, on May 15 to G2 Esports.
Final Prediction: NaVi wins
Fnatic (2.03) vs FaZe Clan (1.82) (11:30 am ET)
It’s hard to imagine a more even rivalry than this one. Fnatic and FaZe Clan have tangled 32 times in the past — and each side has won 16 times. Fnatic won the most recent meeting, a 2-1 victory in a best-of-three format in ESL Pro League Season 11: Europe on April 5.
Fnatic comes in having lost three in a row and four of five across all competitions. They last won on May 6, beating Complexity Gaming in ESL One: Road to Rio – Europe play. They lost, 2-0, to Team Spirit in their Group C opener for DreamHack Masters Spring 2020. FaZe Clan comes in having won their first two games in Group C play, beating GODSENT and Team Spirit. Given that better result against a common opponent, I’m going with FaZe Clan here.
Prediction: FaZe Clan wins
North America
Group and playoff format take place in the same way as the European bracket, but there are only two groups.
Group A (May 19-24) Group B (May 25-30)
- Team Matches +/- Team Matches +/-
- FURIA Esports* 3-0 +17 Cloud 9 1-0 +4
- Team Liquid** 1-2 +17 100 Thieves

May 27 matches
Evil Geniuses (1.6) vs Gen.G Esports (2.25) (4:10 pm ET)
These two teams will meet for the second time on Wednesday. Gen.G Esports prevailed, 2-1, on May 2, in ESL One: Road to Rio. Evil Geniuses has not won a match since April 30, when they beat Triumph in ESL One: Road to Rio play. They lost their DreamHack Masters opener to Cloud9 on May 25. Gen.G has won three matches in a row, all in ESL One: Road to Rio play — and they beat Cloud9 in that competition on May 8. Given their elevated value and their close records against common opponents, I’m going with Gen.G here.
Final Prediction: Gen.G Esports wins
